25.01.2022 Here is Smooth Pool without the sign! Hopefully it can be restored and re-erected soon! Also it is a shame that the access management work (large limestone rocks) has been removed as vehicles are again driving over the rocks and beach.

15.01.2022 Have you seen a Malleefowl on the Eyre Peninsula? Natural Resources EP is asking the public to report Malleefowl sightings, especially in the central EP. We are... hearing that there are a few around the Wudinna-Port Kenny area. You can help us understand more about the species and help protect it by reporting sightings at www.epmalleefowl.com.au/ District Council of Elliston | District Council of Lower Eyre Peninsula | Wudinna District Council | District Council of Streaky Bay | District Council of Ceduna | Kimba District Council | District Council of Cleve | Whyalla City Council | District Council of Franklin Harbour #LoveEP #Malleefowl #VulnerableSpecies #ReportSightings #HelpUs #UnderstandProtectSpeices

13.01.2022 The Australian Government Caring for our Country project put in place access management at Speeds point, Tractor Beach, Smooth Pool, Cape Blanch Conservation Park and the Yanerbie sandunes. Large limestone rocks were used. Unfortunately at Smooth Pool the rocks were completely removed, and here at Yanerbie the photo shows how the rocks have been repositioned so that 4WD vehicles, dune buggies and trail bikes can access the sandunes. The Yanerbie dunes contain numerous Aboriginal cultural sites and sites of European cultural heritage which can be damaged by uncontrolled vehicle use.

12.01.2022 Let's hope these beautiful signs can be replaced soon!

11.01.2022 Wiringu interpretative sign at Smooth Pool. Unfortunately this sign has been vandalized with graffiti and removed by the District Council of Streaky Bay. There were 11 signs created by an aboriginal artist Suzie Betts that were erected along the coastline of the Chain of Bays. Some of them have already been stolen - Sceale Bay, Tractor Beach and the Granites. The signs are an important step in reconciliation with the original custodians of the Chain of Bays area - the Wiringu people.

08.01.2022 Two new conservation park extensions on the West Coast will help play a role in further protecting local endangered species according to the Friends of Sceale Bay National Convener Grant Hobson. The two park extensions were proclaimed on the 22/9/2016 by the State Government. Cape Blanche Conservation Park and Searcy Bay Conservation Park have had extensions proclaimed by the State Government including a large coastal strip area, a revegetated area near the township of Sceale... Bay and an offshore stack near Cape Blanche. Grant Hobson National Convener said the two park extensions would help protect the vulnerable White Bellied Sea Eagle, endangered Eastern Osprey, vulnerable Australian Sea-lion, vulnerable Hooded Plover rare Peregrine Falcon and the nationally threatened Western Mint Bush.
