22.01.2022 Lucky for us Liza is the sweetest pumpkin in the patch! Liza sent us an insta message as soon as we opened saying that if we 'ever needed anything she would be right there.' I wrestled with the idea of asking her to do this tasting for about two weeks. She agreed right away. And I had a smile on my face all day when she said she was 'looking forward to it!' Tonda is one of the most awesome restaurants in this area and we are chuffed that Liza ate our version of bolognese Stay tuned on Sunday to hear what she thought! @tondaitalian
15.01.2022 Tara's Story - When I was little, our takeaway ritual was this: My grandma would call up the local Chinese restaurant and order We’d all walk down laden with bowls and saucepans Our takeaway food would be packed into our misc vessels... We’d happily (and hungrily!) walk home again, ready to enjoy a ~delish~ waste-free dinner. We’re here to bring that back. Things are a little different now - we’re using less MSG than they did in the 70s (ie we don’t use any ), but the spirit remains the same. 09.01.2022 We met Jess at @felixculpa.coffee where we often stop in for a coffee for us and danish for Ned. We were super excited to hear that she is a food photographer and a lot of the photos you see on our social media were taken by her! She couldn't stop talking about food and one look at her insta @thephatlamb and I knew she was a great judge for our Chinese bolognese.... Danny and Jess grew up eating Chinese food, mainly southern cuisine including yum cha, Hong Kong Cafe favourites and roast meat like Char siu. As an adult Jess enjoys eating regional Chinese dishes from Sichuan, Shanghai and many more. Growing up the kids were rarely allowed to have soft drinks and dessert at Chinese restaurants (except for special occasions.) She says when they were allowed they would always order the banana fritter ice cream! Stay tuned on Sunday for her verdict on our Chinese bolognese!

There's a space where you can leave a note with your orderthat means that you can tell us, in your own words, how wonderful this high-quality animation is. 04.01.2022 GARDEN BOUNTY GIVEAWAY! We have been growing veg, mostly lettuce and leafy greens for the Emergency Relief program @divrsnews for months and our garden is chock-a-block! If you haven't heard of them yet, Darebin Information Volunteer Resource Service (DIVRS) is a non-profit organisation that offers a variety of resources which aim to protect and support vulnerable members of the Darebin Community. Growing food locally is just part of it!... We also haven't mentioned this yet, but making salad mix is one of our (ok, my...) favourite things to do! There isn't much of a chance to do this at Chan so usually, I save this for mid week dinners at home. I'm harvesting a heap of these babies tomorrow morning (Sunday) and I think we have enough salad here to feed around 20 households for a week. Would anyone like to do a laneway pick up from the back of our shop? We will be there between 9-10am tomorrow. BYO container and we will have a mound of lettuce leaves and a pair of tongs! PM me so I know how many people to expect. Oh, and we would love it if you check out @divrsnews and follow along. So many great projects happening that we will also post about from time to time.
