25.01.2022 PARVO WARNING Theres a warning for dog owners in the Mid West tonight, with vets in Geraldton reporting a spike in canine parvovirus. Its an incredibly deadl...y disease that puppies are especially vulnerable to. But, it can be prevented easily, if owners take action.

22.01.2022 Unfortunately, we will be closed tomorrow, Sunday the 29th. At this stage our opening hours during the week are still as normal. We are taking each week/day as it comes. Whilst we pride ourselves on maintaining a high level of sanitation and hygiene, we have taken some additional precautions to help ensure the safety of all our staff, clients and patients.... This includes: Disinfecting the clinic and waiting area three times daily with F10 - a product known to be effective against the Coronavirus. Providing additional hand sanitizer in all of our consult rooms and at reception. Optional direct access to a consult room via our side entrance if you wish to bypass the waiting room Practicing social distancing within the clinic Performing certain services in the comfort of your own car Bringing food and medication out to your car at your request. Restricting access to consult rooms to the veterinarian and 1 other personnel only. Maximum of 2 people per patient in the waiting room We are also still providing home visits and are able to examine your animal while you remain isolated in your home The wellbeing of our staff, clients and your animals remains our highest priority.

21.01.2022 COVID-19 Update As of 27th March 2020, the Federal Government declared that they consider the role of veterinarians "essential to the agricultural sector and therefore to our nations food security but also in protecting companion animals and our nations wildlife". So what does all this mean for me and my Fur Babies we hear you ask...... There has not been any restrictions put in place for veterinarians other than the practice of social distancing and effective hygiene practices. Given the ever-changing uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 crisis, we are not in a position to make any guarantees, however would like to assure you that for the time being it is still business as usual here at CAH albeit a few minor differences. In addition to the preventative measures we have already implemented, as of next week we will be splitting our team into two. As difficult as it is to separate our amazing group of vets and nurses, this is yet another safety precaution that will allow us to remain operational and enable us to provide a service to you and your family during these uncertain times. All services are currently still available including our away clinics however we do ask for your support and understanding should your preferred veterinarian not be available each day or if the wait time for elective surgeries is a little longer. Your pets health is important to us and our dedication to them remains the same, however the health of both our staff and clientele must also be a priority. 18.01.2022 Is your dogs tick prevention up to date? A new tick-borne disease has been identified up north in the Kimberley region. Ehrlichiosis has not been recorded in Australia before May 2020, and must be reported to the government.... Symptoms include: Fever Lethargy Enlarged lymph nodes Loss of appetite Weight loss Discharge from the eyes and nose If you suspect your dog has already been affected, contact a veterinarian. Remember the best way to protect your dog is PREVENTION. This is one of several bacterial diseases that can be carried and transmitted to your dog by ticks. 15.01.2022 This is what a positive Parvo test looks like. We have unfortunately seen this frequently in the past week. It is a horrific disease that kills an average of 10 000 dogs in Australia every year. We would like to remind everyone to PLEASE VACCINATE.... A vaccination against Parvo is less than $150 Treatment against Parvo is over $2000 Parvo is a severe disease that attacks the digestive system, causing vomiting and bloody diarrhoea. Infection does not require contact with infected dogs and cases are on the rise with this rainy weather. Vaccination against Parvo is affordable, easy and effective. If your pet is unvaccinated and showing any of the above symptoms, it is best to contact your veterinary clinic immediately.
