12.01.2022 Trinidad and Tobago please note as per the Prime Minister's Press Conference today: The Public Health Regulations in Trinidad and Tobago will remain in effect for another twenty-eight (28) day period ending October 11th 2020. The following announcements were also made:... In preparation for the national budget, all public servants necessary for the completion of this exercise have been deemed essential and are required to work. Law enforcement officers are expected to enforce the full brunt of the law on persons who breach the existing Public Health Regulations. Minister of National Security the Hon Stuart Young, confirms that there are existing laws for both private and public spaces that allow members of the Police Service to intervene if there is a threat to public safety. Permanent residents outside of Trinidad and Tobago will be granted an amnesty and will not have their residency status revoked. Trinidad and Tobago’s borders remain closed. Maxi-Taxis will be allowed to operate at a 65 per cent capacity. The Ministry of Health has approved a seating arrangement map which will allow for physical distancing to be maintained in the vehicles. This map will be published with the updated regulations. Thoracic Medical Director at the Caura Hospital Dr Michelle Trotman has appealed to COVID-19 positive patients at the hospital to leave their oxygen mask on as prescribed by their doctors. Failure to do so can result in the patient developing happy hypoxia which can create an illusion that the patient is on the mend when they are not.
