24.01.2022 R U OK? Day - It's a day to connect and show support to all those around us, so today we asked our residents and staff if they were ok?

22.01.2022 Our favourite fury pooch came in for a visit today along with his 'chook' friends. Dexter and the chickens had a great day at Charlesbrook as did our residents who were delighted to see them. Anastasia topped the day off with another Greek cooking demonstration which we got to enjoy for afternoon tea along with our coffee.

22.01.2022 Dexter the therapy dog makes our hearts warm and our faces smile, he is such a beautiful, gentle dog and we all love his visits.

21.01.2022 Resident Ray and Dexter, our therapy dog helped our Facility Manager Michelle this morning by greeting all our early morning staff at the front door as they arrived. Thank you Dexter and Ray for your assistance, the staff enjoyed seeing you both bright and early!

21.01.2022 Let's get physical...so good for the mind and body, our dedicated physio runs an exercise class twice a week to get our bodies moving in all the right ways.

21.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET - REMEMBRANCE DAY 11.11.2020 At 11am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. This conflict had brought about the mobilisation of over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead, perhaps as many as one-third of them with no known grave. A...t the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, all McKenzie Aged Care homes and offices will observe one minute’s silence, in memory of those who served and continue to serve protecting our country. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget.

20.01.2022 Today marks the 30th Anniversary of the International Day of Older Persons. With the appearance of COVID-19 in 2020, the highlighted need for more awareness around the health and mental needs of our ageing generations has come further into the spotlight, this is especially represented in this decade’s theme for International Day of Older Persons - The Decade of Healthy Ageing. Ageing is a privilege and at McKenzie we are very proud to be part of our older generation’s journey, we place great value on being able to offer assistance to our resident’s health, care and social needs. Today, we pay tribute to older persons everywhere and thank them for everything they have contributed to our society. Make sure you let the older people in your life know how much you love them.

20.01.2022 A Father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love will show us the way. Father's Day photos from Charlesbrook, we hope all the Dad's had a wonderful day yesterday.

18.01.2022 A big happy birthday to our sweet Dorothy - some beautiful flowers and gifts arrived from her family yesterday and she had a lovely day.

17.01.2022 What a beautiful day for enjoying the fresh air in our lovely gardens.

16.01.2022 Yesterday we enjoyed pancakes, first we enjoyed the smell floating in the air and then we got to eat them, yum.

15.01.2022 Perfect Melbourne day for a morning walk and cold icy-poles.

14.01.2022 We would like to remind you of the wonderful Message a Resident feature on our McKenzie website. You can not only write a letter or a quick update to your loved one but also attach photos to make them smile. We deliver these letters in full colour to our residents to read or our staff can read them to the residents where needed. Click here to get started, https://mckenzieacg.com/message-a-resident

13.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone, we have certainly had a good one!

12.01.2022 The residents sang with gusto on Friday afternoon when entertainer Kaye joined us via screen, singing, clapping, seat wiggling, a great time was had by all.

11.01.2022 The beautiful faces of Charlesbrook just wanted to say hello on this fine Thursday afternoon.

10.01.2022 To acknowledge International Day of Peace we coloured/decorated our doves and had a wonderful conversation on the importance of worldwide peace and the meaning of compassion, hope and kindness. Love to you all from all of us at Charlesbrook.

09.01.2022 Each year at McKenzie we hold GoBeyond Awards to celebrate staff who have gone above and beyond in their work to make a difference in people’s lives. 2020 has been a unique and challenging year for us all, and in so many ways we have gone through this pandemic together as a community. We therefore would love families to get involved in the awards process this year. You can use the link below to acknowledge those individuals or teams who have made a difference to you and/or your loved one through 2020. The GoBeyond Awards is a way to show appreciation of others who have excelled during the difficulties we have all faced. It means a lot to us to have your support. 09.01.2022 Our community elders have seen many things throughout their lives, it is a privilege when they share these memories and stories with us. Today, Remembrance Day 2020, Rosebrook resident Isabel wanted to share with us her time in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (W.A.A.F).

08.01.2022 Here are our October calendars, full of activities to keep us busy as the weather starts to warm up.

07.01.2022 Wishing a big Happy Birthday to our wonderful June, we hope you have had the most magnificent day with your Charlesbrook family, full of flowers, yummy cake and so many well wishes.

04.01.2022 Today is R U OK?Day a day that aims to inspire everyday conversations about mental health. A day when we are reminded to check-in with our friends, family, colleagues, and even ourselves. This year is one that has presented everybody with extraordinary circumstances. Restrictions and lockdowns across the country, caused by the coronavirus pandemic, has thrown up challenges that many Australians are struggling to cope with. Isolation, empty workplaces, home confinement and h...ealth fears for our families and self has caused mental health issues to soar to new levels. Staying connected to one another has never been more important. In many instances, we may not be able to meet in person but we still have phones to stay in touch. So, if you know someone who might be struggling - a friend, family or workmate - please, reach out and ask: R U OK? See more
