24.01.2022 Primary families don't forget book week dress up day is next week, Wednesday the 11th of November. We cannot wait to see what costumes you come up with!

24.01.2022 Year 11 Auslan students were asked to think about some of the needs that a Deaf person might have during their lifetimes. They were then required to research organisations available in Australia, to address some of these needs. They then presented their findings to their peers. The linguistic focus was;- audience greetings, educating peers and providing detailed information. This is an excellent example of the task. All done whilst remote learning, congratulations on an exemplary piece of work.

17.01.2022 On Tuesday 27th October VCE Auslan students took part in a 2 hour Drama workshop with Deaf Director Jessica Moody. During the 2 hour session students came up with ideas for various uses for mugs, became whales swimming under the ocean and generally explored how to communicate visually. Students took turns to interview Jess to find out what made her tick and how she set up Deafferent Theatre alongside her friend Ilana Charnelle Gelbart. For more information on this unique thea...tre group please visit their website https://deafferenttheatre.com/ for more information. This was a final fun activity to farewell the graduating Yr 12 Auslan class of 2020. Thanks for making our classes fun and for being such fantastic role-models for your peers both in Auslan and in the broader school community. I wish you the best of luck for your futures and hope to see you around the traps. Keep signing - Deb

12.01.2022 For their end of year exam, Year 10 Auslan students undertook an immersion Auslan/Food Technology assessment. Deaf Chef Ross (https://deafchefross.com) came to the school and taught the students, in Auslan, how to cook Burritos. The exam was delivered in Auslan and no English was spoken for the full two hours. Many thanks to Ross for supporting our students and repeating instructions as many times as were needed. Congratulations to all students on maintaining voice off and for giving their all. Special mention to our four leaders Vallerie Teh, Daaniyaal Smail, Annaliese Ingham and Emily Mullen. Ross then joined the Deaf Facility students to share his life experiences, demonstrating that Deaf Can Do!

08.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers, This morning our phone line is temporarily down, apologies if you have been unable to call school today. We are currently working to restore the phone line.... Until we the phone is restored please email [email protected] should you need to contact school.

08.01.2022 In previous years, Yr 12 VCE Auslan students have taken part in a formal debate on a Deaf specific topic. Unfortunately, students were unable to take part in a debate, instead they prepared a formal speech on this year’s topic. ‘Only teachers that are Deaf should teach Auslan in Government schools’. A tough one for them as they have a hearing teacher however, with support from the broader Deaf community we were able to provide them with various views to support their argument...s. Congratulations to all students on your excellent efforts this year. Huge thanks to Jeremy Brett and Maria Burgess for taking the time to contribute their thoughts and perspectives on the topic. Thanks also to Ms Arthurson for her information on the process of employing staff in government schools, and ensuring that the information provided was with captions! Please don’t hesitate to contact Deb Jarvis should your require any further information about studying VCE Auslan at CLTC. Don’t hesitate to ask should you require an English transcript of their presentations. See more

04.01.2022 To mark the finish of their final year we had a week of celebrations: Morning tea with the coffee van, their Formal at School High Tea lunch and the traditional Celebration Day with dress ups and assembly. This wonderful group of students have not only overcome the usual ups and downs of Year 12 but have done so during a pandemic. As the quote on their T-shirt says I finished Year 12 during a Pandemic I can achieve anything We wish you all the very best for the future.
