25.01.2022 Parents and carers, please note that this morning we have received updated Covid19 Guidelines. As a result, our Monday afternoon choir, our Friday 8am Band Gatherings and Year 2 Recorder group will be postponed from this week until further notice. Band individual tutorials are still able to be conducted. For further updates for families please head to https://education.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/advice-for-families Parents and carers of students who were to be involved in today's Monday 3.15pm Choir, please pick your children up at the 3pm school finishing time.

25.01.2022 Thank you Kaebel Leisure, Elegant Landscaping and Daniel Franco for the supply and install of our new climbing and fitness equipment. We love it!!!!

24.01.2022 The holiday rain may have postponed our new fitness climbing equipment install, but we are off and digging! In 2 weeks we should be climbing our roped webs!

23.01.2022 KW enjoying the outdoor classroom.

23.01.2022 This Facebook post is all about our NEW post! Such is the popularity of our 3 way basketball shooting post that we added another one! This one is a tad shorter for those still developing their biceps! Great job Mr Pascoe with install.

23.01.2022 KH Celebrating ‘Outdoor Classroom Day’ with a little optimism.

22.01.2022 We won! Yesterday we received a letter and a framed certificate from The Public Education Foundation stating that we were one of 10 schools throughout NSW to be awarded the prestigious 2020 Minister's and Secretary's Award for Excellence! Unfortunately, the usual annual presentation dinner has had to be cancelled due to Covid-19 but a personalised video message from the Foundation is on its way and hopefully I can share that with you all soon. Congratulations to all of our C...harlestown South PS Community. An achievement such as this is only ever achieved by a community that partners and works closely together. As we know, it takes a village to raise a child and in this case, 'our village' has been recognised for outstanding achievement and school excellence. I'm a pretty proud Chief right now! We also had an enthusiastic call this morning from our Director, Educational Leadership, Steve Harris, who passes on his huge congratulations to our school community. See more

22.01.2022 Here's a great good news story from yesterday's Newcastle Herald! The headline: 'Golf - Ten Year Old Whiz Kid leaves adults fairway behind on way to victory'. Follow the link: http://www.newcastleherald.com.au//golf-ten-year-old-whi/ Feel free to challenge Lachlan to a game ... but don't expect to win! Four years ago we had Toronto based Jake Riley in our Hunter PSSA Golf Team and Jake this year became the youngest player ever at 14 to make the NSW Open. Having personally played some golf with Lach, he is every bit as good! I'm booking my tickets to US Masters in 2030 now!

21.01.2022 Thank you to our four highly skilled and sensitive school leaders who led us through our Remembrance Day Service at 11am today. Lest We Forget.

21.01.2022 To add a bit of variety and fun (seeing as we have missed many events in 2020), this Friday we are asking all students and staff to wear a footy jersey with our regular Friday sports shorts for our SRC Charity Fundraiser. If you don't have one, a sporting jersey of some kind will do! Don't forget the GOLD COIN DONATION!

21.01.2022 'It hasn’t been easy, but look what we’ve produced!' Thank you to all our students, teachers, school staff and parents and carers who have made this a year to remember. See you next year for #FirstDay2021! #LoveWhereYouLearn *Posted by the NSW Department of Education*

20.01.2022 And the Survey Said??? As many are aware, all NSW public schools are currently working on the development of their next 4 Year School Improvement Plan. As part of that process as we analyse ‘where we are at’, we’d like to get some feedback from parents and carers. The survey is quite focused as we look at academic achievement and growth rather than a broad ‘school life’ type survey. This important time of ‘looking inward and outward’ will help significantly as we plan ahead and ‘look forward’. You can help us do that by completing the 5 minute survey by following our link to: https://forms.gle/KEDYF5xqEFGR7XmJ8

20.01.2022 A brilliant start to our first full week with many of our students attired in our new school uniform options. Don't panic if not acquired as yet, we have Term 1 as our 'uniform transition period'. Don't forget to read today's Newsletter in order to keep up with all that is happening. The Newsletter will come to you digitally via email or can be accessed on our school website.

19.01.2022 Our 3 new nature play garden beds donated by Bunnings Belmont have arrived in stock! Is there anyone in our CSPS family who is just busting to pick these up for us next Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday some time between 8am and 4pm? It may take 2 trips? The largest bed is 2900mm x 1500mm. The other 2 are a tad smaller. No base in them so quite light. They may even pack nicely within each other for transporting? If this is a job anyone is willing to do, please contact the school office on 49435827.

11.01.2022 Morning all! Just a reminder that first day back for Year 1 to Year 6 is this Friday and sports uniforms to be worn. In regard to uniform .... all of our new uniform options are in store at LOWES Charlestown Square and awaiting you! Apparently, many have already made their purchases and kids are bursting to show off the new uniform come the first Monday. Don't panic if you're unable to acquire this for day 1 as a transition time is in place for Term 1 and students are still a...ble to wear grey shorts and darker blue shirts or tunic if need be. Note that our tunic is still part of the 'new options'. If you are able to grab the new uniform this week, please do so. Please make sure that students have completely black shoes for Monday to Thursday wear. I realise there are some 'trendy' black with white markings shoes on the market but ask you to avoid these and stick with plain black. Sports shoes to be worn Fridays. White socks is now our uniform for all. Note that this doesn't include Santa Cruz socks. Plain white please. Hence the word, 'uniform'. For this Friday, all students will start their day with their teacher from 2020 apart from last year's kinders as Mrs Hodson and Mrs Woodward will be conducting Best Start Assessments with our new 2021 kinders. Once we have accounted for all students and accommodated any 'newbies', we will then hopefully, sometime mid morning form our classes for the new year. I know all teachers are excited and can't wait to get rolling with their new groups. All going to plan, we will once again have 11 classes. We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday after our 2 Staff Development Days earlier in the week. Mr J See more

04.01.2022 It's almost Mango time!! The P and C will be running their annual Mango Fundraiser next term. Notes will go home in Week 1 next term, but why not start telling your friends and family to get their orders ready. The best thing is the price is the same as last year - only $25 per tray.

04.01.2022 Just a reminder to everyone about entering the school grounds - under the Department of Education current Covid-19 guidelines, non-essential adults are still not permitted on school grounds or at school events this includes parents and carers unless specifically approved by the principal. If you have younger children and must enter the grounds to collect your child in the afternoon, please do not come into the classrooms. In the interest of everyone's safety, including our staff, we ask that parents wait in the playground and maintain social distancing. For older students, please arrange to meet them outside the school gates at a designated place. Thank you for your cooperation with this and for assisting us in keeping our community safe. https://education.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/advice-for-families

02.01.2022 Help ‘bulk up our beds’! We plan to fill our 3 new nature play/garden beds with sand ASAP but first need to fill up to half the base with styrofoam. If you’ve recently purchased a bulky item and happen to still have the styrofoam packaging, race up to school and pop it in one of the garden beds.

02.01.2022 Parent/Teacher phone interviews - online booking opens today at 6pm. Notes sent home today with students, emailed to parents, and available on the Skoolbag app. Please note, KH, KW and 5-6S are not included as those interviews were held earlier this year.
