17.01.2022 To our Charmhaven Rural Fire Brigade friends The Australian Emergency + application which is available for both Android and Apple smart devices has long been a very handy application to have on your phone and or GSM enabled tablet. The application is now even better with the integration of what3words. ... W3W's has mapped the world into 3m x 3m squares each identified by three words. The use of these simple words is generally much easier for the general public to understand when required to give more specific locations to emergency services. If you do not already have the Emergency + app, we recommend your download it to your smart device, and if you already have it, don't forget to download the update. https://what3words.com//australian-emergency-services-acc/

14.01.2022 To our Charmhaven Rural Fire Brigade friends. It is with great disappointment that we advise that our Christmas Eve Santa Run that is conducted in our home suburb of Charmhaven has been cancelled this year. The Christmas Eve Santa run has long been the brigades official end to the year's community event calendar, (remembering that our preparedness to support the community at incidents is 24hrs, 365-days). The inability to complete this final Santa run leaves us all feeling a ...bit flat. This decision has been made because of the continuing COVID-19 restrictions set out by the RFS and the NSW Government, and the critical requirement to keep our members and the community safe. For the suburbs that we were able to visit, and those that we wanted to visit, and for the unwavering support that is given by our community during the year, we thank you all and wish you a safe and a very Merry Christmas #CharmhavenRFB #nswrfs #volunteerlife

Restart a Heart will be holding a live event on that day (16th October) which will give you access to a free educational session on cardiac arrest.... https://restartaheart.net/ Did you know that only 1 in 10 people survive cardiac arrest? Would you know what to do if you were the only one around to help someone who has had a sudden heart attack? 04.01.2022 To our Charmhaven Rural Fire Brigade friends in the Woongarrah South Due to quickly changing COVID situation and restrictions being implemented by the NSW RFS, Santa is on his way to your location to try and finish off his Woongarrah visits. 02.01.2022 To our Charmhaven Rural Fire Brigade friends As fire season is now upon us and we have been unable to do much training during the heavily restricted periods of COVID-19, we decided to conduct a brigade training day. Obviously, some COVID restrictions (i.e. crew numbers on vehicles) had our officers carefully planning and risk assessing the activities so that the day could go ahead.... Thank you to one of our members, who is a Senior Paramedic with NSW Ambulance for being able to arrange to have an ambulance at the training event to assist in the conduct of our medically related scenarios. The day saw 28 members participate under the watchful eyes of our officers, as they rotated through various training scenarios such as; * Drafting exercises * Hose and pumping exercises * MVA exercises * Medical intervention exercises * Hand tool exercises * Vehicle guiding exercises * Emergency vehicle exercises * Defensive and offensive firefighting exercises * Structure at risk exercises #CharmhavenRFB #NSWAmbulance #TrainingDay #nswrfs

Communities in the Blue Mountains, Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Walcha, Armidale, Nambucca, Kempsey, Tenterfield, and the Mid Coast were all being impacted by fire. ... At 6pm on this day, 94 fires were burning across the state. While the losses on that day were significant, they could have been far worse . We are proud to be one of the many brigades that make up the NSW Rural Fire Service. #CharmhavenRFB #nswrfs #volunteerfirstresponders #communitypride
