07.01.2022 I have never been so happy at the sight of my burgeoning double chin!! I’m 20 weeks pregnant and suffer from HG or Hyperemesis Gravidarum.. and I have been SICK..., SICK, SICK! At about 5 weeks I was totally bed ridden. But, as I’ve mentioned before, I’ve got a good plan in place this time around.. Have tried to take it easy on myself and have leant on others when needed.. But, I lost ALOT of weight at the start of this pregnancy - about 7 or 8 kilos pretty quickly.. That’s not ideal when you’re trying to grow a healthy baby.. And I needed regular trips to the hospital for fluids to try keep me somewhat stable.. It was scary. I still have off days.. but nowhere near how bad I was around the 9- 14 week mark. I still have medication throughout the day to allow me to eat, and keep things down. And, just in the last week I have put on the recommended amount of weight.. AND I AM CELEBRATING!!!!!!! But I want to point out that every woman’s journey is different. If you are a HG Mum please don’t compare yourself to anyone else. That will only leave you feeling inadequate and that’s not right. You are a survivor. You are made of the strongest stuff I know! Everyone’s experience is different. I say this because I don’t want anyone to ever feel they need to compare themselves to someone else. If you are struggling and you are not doing ok, reach out for help. Please. Please do not look at me today - I have makeup on (which I do not wear most days I assure you) and I’m smiling (because today I feel semi-ok but yesterday I did not) and compare yourself with me.. because this a teeny snapshot of my life. It is miserable at times being this sick. I get it. It’s so hard. It’s difficult to explain. Life draining at times.. It can deplete you of your mental strength... but don’t give up. Think of just getting through today. Tomorrow and next week is a different story. Just do your best to get through today. And celebrate the little wins. A sip of water that you’ve kept down. A laugh at something you watched on TV. A cuddle with your children. An extra chin developing. You have got this! See more
