20.01.2022 PHOTO COMPETITION *photos taken only by a high resolution digital camera* You may have realised that our reception wall is looking a little bare! ... We have big plans to create a photo wall in the near future for our reception however we need more photos of our beautiful patients to fill the space! To be able to enter in the competition we do require that the photos provided are taken by a camera, not a phone (like the photos pictured below). This is so we can have the best quality images on the wall! If you would like your fur baby to be apart of the photo wall please comment the photo below, tell us the name of the pet/pets in the photo and also email the image to us at [email protected] *If you would like to include a pet that is no longer with us that is also completely fine* The prize will be a delicious packet of treats for a dog and cat winner! We look forward to seeing the photos. Thank you!! The Team at Chelmer Graceville Vets

14.01.2022 Should we call a plumber? We think the sink is blocked this is a great demonstration of cat logic, if I fits, I sit.
14.01.2022 It is important to do diagnostics before dispensing any type of antibiotic or anti-fungal medication for your dog’s ears. We need to know what is going on inside your dog’s ear so we can use the right type of medication to treat their infection, be it caused by bacteria and/or yeast, with or without inflammation. Rechecking the ears during treatment is also crucial as it tells us when we have cured the infection (so we can stop medicating), or that the treatment isn’t working... and so we then may need to use something else. We also need to monitor that it is safe to use certain medications as some can cause damage to a perforated ear drum and can be incredibly painful! Teddy was very patient and brave while having his ear recheck, and through cytology we can see he is still having ongoing ear problems and was sent home with some more medication!

08.01.2022 Meeka is a precious 4 month old who was referred to us from Aspley Veterinary Practice for assessment and treatment of her lower canines that were traumatizing ...the palate. Diagnosis: Linguoverted Mandibular Canines Explanation: - Linguoverted canines, also referred to as base narrow canines, is a condition where the teeth grow straight up instead of on an angle. - In this case, Meeka's lower (mandibular) baby (deciduous) canines are already causing discomfort and trauma. - Meeka may have issues with her adult teeth too when they erupt, however in some cases it is only an issue with deciduous teeth. - For more information please visit www.animaldental.com.au/information/base-narrow-canines/ Treatment: - Extraction of mandibular deciduous canines. Prevention: - This is a genetic disorder so the best course of action is to monitor your pet and if you don't think that things look normal then get it checked out by your regular vet. #advancedanimaldentistry #dental #extractions #puppylove #puppiesofinstagram #maltese #malteseofinstagram #maltesecross #dogs #dogsofinstagram #petsofinstagram #pethealth #malocclusion #babyteeth #deciduousteeth #deciduouscanines #canines #linguoversion #basenarrowcanines #brisbane #goldcoast #vetdentist #dentistry #animaldentist

06.01.2022 INFORMATION REGARDING EASING OF COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS To our very valued clients, Thank you very much to everyone for helping us keep our community safe from COVID-19 so far! We have really appreciated your cooperation and trust whilst we consulted with you by telephone, on the footpaths, and by your cars! THANK YOU!!!... As the government has started to ease some restrictions, we have now been directed by our management that we can also start easing restricted access where possible in our clinic. As we all are aware, social distancing measure must still be followed, so we all still need to keep 1.5-2m apart wherever possible. CHANGES TO BUSINESS AS (UN)USUAL: 1. The maximum number of people we can now allow in our reception room is 2 (TWO). This allows 1 (ONE) person to wait for a consult on the bench to the right of the door, and one other person to access the reception desk for over the counter sales etc. We would kindly ask that if ONE person is already in the waiting room, please wait outside until we can ensure it is safe for you to enter. There is a bench on the footpath on the other side of the big electricity box, and the single chair near the front door for use whilst waiting. 2. We have one consult room that can be used freely as it is big enough to allow appropriate social distancing measures to be used. We will now be able to have one vet and one client in the large consult room for consultations with your pet/s. 3. As you are likely to be aware, our second consult room is smaller, and is too small to allow 2 people to be inside at the same time and keep the appropriate distance apart to stay safe from COVID-19. We will only be using this room for consults when we have 2 vets on for the day currently this is Tuesdays and Fridays. On these days, we will use the small room in addition to the larger consult room, and employ measures to keep us both safe from the ever present risk of coronavirus infection. If you would prefer, you also still have the option of leaving your pet with us and coming back once we have finished consulting with them. 4. Cash payments are still not accepted. 5. If you need to arrange humane euthanasia for your pet, or would like to talk about this possibility, please call us on 07 3379 9260 to discuss this in person. We will work together to find a compassionate way to handle this for you, your pet and your family. If you have any concerns or questions about your pet’s health needs, our new eased restrictions, or anything else you would like to talk about, we are always happy to take your call. If your query is not urgent, you are also welcome to email us at [email protected] and we will aim to reply to you within 48-72 hours. Thank you again for entrusting your pet’s care to our veterinary team, and for helping us to continue to protect our community’s health! Kind regards, Priska, Jandy, Walter, Meg, Taylor, Madi, Megan, and Caitlin
