Most have been pivoting like other businesses to move online but n...o one can argue that the heart-led essence of true yoga and many of its benefits come from community and connection, not bandwidth and bright lighting; and in addition to feeling soulless, most online offerings are not very profitable, which is why yoga studios are being shuttered like windows before a hurricane. 16.01.2022 Stand up and try this: Keep your body facing the front but turn to look behind you. Keep looking behind you. Now take a step in this position. Feel how that fe...els. Now try and walk in the same position. Careful! Your balance is off, you can't actually see what you are doing and hey, you might smash into something. So think on this: Why do some of us continually place emphasis on and over and over look at what is behind them -their past- yet expect they can move confidently into their future? You can't. Of course you need to take in what is in your past, yet instead transform it into a learning and wisdom and then face forward. Looking behind you isn't where you are going. This is why the front windscreen in a car is so large and the side mirrors are so small. As we come into yet another cycle around the sun, consider making it a focus to leave behind what doesn't work and face forward joyfully, confidently and lovingly. Know you are worth it, know you can expand and progress as this is your birthright. Stride forward into something new and delicious. Don't look back all the time and get stuck because that simply isn't the way you are going.

The translation of the 3rd Niyama is derived from the root Sanskrit ver...b 'tap' which means 'to burn', and evokes a sense of 'fiery discipline' or 'passion'. And in this sense, we practice asana, pranayama and meditation to burn off impurities that can occur in the body, the mind or energetically.
