22.01.2022 Sold Out!! Our first flush of mushrooms has all been picked and is now sold out. Thank you to all who called me, chased me down, or came to get mushrooms at the "Shiitake Shack" Hopefully there will be another flush in early June, but it will mostly be up to Mother Nature. Watch this page for updates and availability of our Shiitake Mushrooms.

21.01.2022 Fresh Picked Shiitakes! I picked a flat this morning, and will likely pick a couple more baskets this afternoon, and tomorrow. I don't know how long this run will last, but come and get them while they are fresh. Packed 1/2 lb per box, $7.50 each or 2 boxes for $14.00. Call me directly (519 5216703) and I will put your name on a box or two. I will be working in the yard inoculating the last of the logs and can even give you a quick info tour if you like. Social distancing measures in effect, please bring correct change or e transfer to [email protected]

20.01.2022 April 30 - First real pick of the season. A nice hatful for supper tonight. There should be a steady trickle now with all the little ones that are coming. These ones are very rough textured, but that will change as the weather warms up and they start growing faster.

13.01.2022 With all the hard frosts we experienced over the last month, a lot of small mushrooms were frozen off just as they got started and we lost quite a number. With some warm weather finally, there are lots of new mushrooms pinning out, so there will be some fresh mushrooms over the next couple weeks. Not sure on the quantity at this point, but stay tuned for availability and more pics and videos on the inoculation process.

02.01.2022 Our mushroom spawn finally arrived from Field and Forest. (3 weeks for Canada and US Post to deliver payment) Got 15 logs inoculated with the first variety. Only 45 more logs and 3 varieties to go. The bag on the left is spawn left from a 15 log inoculation run, bag on the right is a full bag that will do about 20 logs. If anyone has about 20 4-8 inch x 4 foot long oak or maple logs that were cut during the winter, I could be interested in a fresh mushroom/log swap. I was ori...ginally planning to prep 200 logs this year, however due to Covid19 throwing a monkey wrench into everyone's plans, only managed to source 60 logs. 200 logs would have required a significant work party. Next year, maybe there will be one planned for May 24 weekend. I think there might be some red meat, propane, fresh mushrooms and cold refreshments involved...
