24.01.2022 The children at Cherry Tree were lucky to have a visit from The Nutrition Magician today. Magic Craig wowed the Children and Educators with his hilarious jokes and amazing magic tricks, while also embedding some important messages into the performance. Cherry Tree has supported this cause since it started a few years ago. After having a very dear friend pass away from It last year, we are very keen to support it again in 2019. 18.01.2022 Yesterday the children were instantly drawn to the new rock water feature. They expressed joy and a sense of wonder as they explored the area. The children used their imagination as they used boats and sea creatures to create their own ocean adventures. We also watched the direction and speed of the water and made predictions about what different mediums would be able to float down the stream.

18.01.2022 Last week Miss Bojka welcomed Oliver, his Dad and Grandfather to Cherry Tree. This was an extra special milestone as Miss Bojka also had the pleasure of looking after Olivers Dad at Cherry Tree 17 years ago!!! Miss Bojka still continues to settle the children into the service with love, patience and kindness. She feels blessed to be able to care and educate two generations from the same family.

17.01.2022 Today schools and early childhood services around Australia read the story Alpacas with Maracas at the same time to celebrate and encourage literacy. At Cherry Tree we decided to listen to the story being read along with sign language on our eboard. The children enjoyed this experience and thought the story was very funny! Dont forget to read with your children as often as possible. Its not only a fantastic way to bond with your children but also expands their vocabulary, improves concentration and helps them become fluent readers later in life. @ Sutherland, New South Wales, Australia

16.01.2022 Tonight Cherry Tree Kindergarten hosted a parent workshop hosted by Michelle Derrig, the author of the picture book Only for me. Parents learnt about the protective behaviours to instill within their children, helping to empower them with the knowledge that their bodies are private. Families received many valuable tips to prepare their children for Kindergarten while also hearing about the wonderful programs provided at St Patricks Primary. 13.01.2022 Last week, Cherry Tree Sutherland opened its door to host a kitchen garden workshop run by Munch and Move and Edible Kids. Early Childhood Educators from across the Sutherland Shire attended the workshop to extend their knowledge in creating and maintaining an edible garden. 13.01.2022 Reading from a young age is a critical component of childrens development. It helps develop not only their language and literacy skills, but also their imagination and concentration. This week we placed a focus on the development of these skills as we celebrated book week. We shared so many favourite stories with the children and had an amazing time dressing up. 09.01.2022 Recently the children from Cherry Tree had the privilege of having a visit from Shanon from Push The Limit. Shanon uses a wheelchair in his daily life and came to spread the message of inclusivity. He told stories, showed pictures and implemented lots of fun activities, including wheel chair races with the children. Such an amazing and inspiring morning. 09.01.2022 Miss Bojka has worked at Cherry Tree Sutherland for over 20 years! She has her certificate III in childrens services and currently works in our Starfish Room. Nothing is ever too much for Miss Bojka. She is always going above and beyond to look after the families and children in her care. Miss Bojka has a passion for gardening, cooking and science. She is forever baking with the children, planting and caring for new seedlings, and conducting experiments to help the children find out the tough answers to their how and why questions.

08.01.2022 Miss Brooke started at Cherry Tree at 18 years of age and has now worked with us for over 10 years. She commenced with us as a trainee and has since gone on to ...complete her diploma in childrens services, quickly followed by a Bachelor of Teaching degree, and then her Bachelor of Education. She is an exceptionally knowledgeable, fun loving, Educator who is passionate about children and their development. Miss Brookes passion is evident in her daily program and the experiences she provides for the children day after day. She is constantly working alongside the children discovering their interests and strengths, extending their knowledge and guiding them towards their individual learning goals. We feel extremely lucky to have her as part of our team. See more

06.01.2022 Miss Yvonne has worked for Cherry Tree Kindergarten for the past 5 years. She has her Bachelor of Teaching and is responsible for the care and education of the children in the pre-school room. Miss Yvonne is passionate about educating the children and is constantly focusing on preparing them for their school years ahead. She has developed loving and respectful relationships with the children in her room and always makes time for all of them. She is constantly available to answer their questions, investigate further, provide assistance, set up challenges and all while making learning fun! 05.01.2022 The council is running a competition, allowing the community to vote on the naming of a local park. One of the options is for the park to be named after Biddy Giles, an Aboriginal lady who acted as a guide, sharing her extensive knowledge of Dharawal Country. We were very excited to hear that Biddy is an ancestor of one of our beautiful families at Cherry Tree. Lets keep our history and culture alive and vote for Biddy! 04.01.2022 It is devastating to see the damage the bushfires have created and is still continuing to do so...This week, Cherry Tree Kindy will be collecting donations for the fire affected areas on the South Coast. Miss Rebecca gave Mr Tax a tour of the service and told him about all the wonderful things Cherry Tree does to help prepare the children for school. 02.01.2022 The children and educators of Cherry Tree Kindergarten, gave back to the community this week when they visited their local Bupa Retirement Village. They spread Christmas cheer as they sang carols and delivered hand made Christmas cards for the residents.

02.01.2022 The children and Educators at Cherry Tree have created two art works portraying this years NAIDOC theme, Always was, Always will be'. Both rooms have worked extremely hard and have done extensive research on this years theme. The work has been entered into an art competition run by the Koori Curriculum.
