13.01.2022 55 kids, 7 days of rehearsals and we open for shows. I am always amazed by how awesome the kids are after such a short time. The program is designed specifically for this short timeframe by the very talented BJ and Georgia. We also have a fantastic directing team of Child Play kids who grew out of participating and stayed on to teach the next generation. As always I am honoured to be part of this community. The production team really missed the kids last year when we postponed shows and the kids really missed the positive experience of what theatre means to them. We are very excited to kick this year off with a positive fun show. Click your heels three times and back to the theatre we go, there is no place like the theatre. Ange Production Manager

13.01.2022 Applications are now open for Child Players ACT Winter School Holiday Drama Program of The Jungle Book! Open to ages 8 to 17. There is no audition process and no prior experience is necessary. Rehearsals and performances will be held from Monday 6 July to Friday 10 July (Downer) and Monday 13 July to Saturday 18 July (Belconnen)... 12.01.2022 The children in the cast of The Wizard of Oz are all participants in our two-week-long Summer School Holiday Drama Program. They have been rehearsing full time for only a week and a half, under the tuition of our talented directing team. Many of the children have performed in previous Child Players ACT shows, but for quite a few of them it's their first time onstage. Our School Holiday Drama Programs run in the Summer and Winter and are designed for children from 8 to 16 years. No acting, dancing or singing experience is necessary. Every child gets to a part on stage and at the end of the two-week-long program, all children perform in the full-length musical production - BJ Artistic Director

09.01.2022 This is BJ. I want to let the Child Play Family know that Kathy passed away yesterday. One of Kathy's great loves was theatre and she passed on that theatre bug to me. Kathy and I started Child Players 15 years ago. Kathy was the founder and business manager and production manager of Child Players and a second Nana to all of the children. Theatre was always Kathy's happy place. She was also so proud of me, the children, the young directores and the shows that we all created t...ogether. She loved giving children the opportunity to make theatre their happy place too!! Last week while Kathy was in the hospital I thought it would be nice for some of the older "kids" to have an opportunity to send Kathy a message. Ange and Justine contacted people and Katie (Kathy's granddaughter and favourite actor!) put together the videos beautifully! When I showed it to Kathy she cried (I balled!!) and she was so happy! Thank you to everyone who was involved. Please watch the video to remember how much Kathy has meant to so many Child Play children and feel free to share any of your memories as well. 09.01.2022 After much consideration the Child Players ACT production team has decided we will not be going ahead with our July Production of The Jungle Book. Our October production of The Pirates of Penzance will be going ahead as long as restrictions continue to be lifted and we can deliver the program within ACT Government Guidelines. We are currently working on how the program will be delivered while maintaining social distancing and ensuring the safety of participants, production t...eam and audience. All updates on our programs will be emailed to participates who have enrolled, if you wish to join the mailing list please email [email protected]. When we return to the theatre all show dates and times will be posted here on our Facebook page, Stagecenta and Canberra Rep website. We all look forward to seeing you soon!

At this stage Child Players ACT will be running our July school holiday program of The Jungle Book and Pirates of Penzance in Term 3. ... We will reassess as time goes on. 01.01.2022 Child Play kids amaze me every production they do, they all live by our belief kids can do anything and follow our one rule ‘positive environment’. These wonderful humans raised so much for ovarian cancer research in 2019 and this year raised over $2000 for children displaced by bushfires.
