01.01.2022 Biosecurity helping bring global stars to Australia It might have been the biggest concert to hit Australian shores, with around 95,000 people in attendance in ...Sydney alone, but did you know we played a big part in helping Adele’s shows take place? Here’s a-del-lightful insight into our work. If you’re not a fan, it might not mean that much to ‘someone like you’, but ‘rumour has it’, if we didn’t help ensure the concert equipment was free of biosecurity risk, the whole show would have been ‘rolling in the deep’. Our officers were on hand to inspect the cargo that arrived for the concert, which included about 27 containers full of touring equipment for the stage, lighting and sound. As the equipment was used for other global events held in stadiums with turf fields and is usually dismantled quickly, it isn’t cleaned at that time. So, we also had to take part in weeks of planning to accommodate other biosecurity clearance, such as pre-delivery photography and inspection of the unpacking site. The equipment posed a range of biosecurity risks, as it could have been carrying pests, plant material or non-compliant packaging.
