21.01.2022 Apology in advance if anyone take offence or find the collaboration disrespectful. This week our school (in Singapore) is preparing for Chinese New Year. Howeve...r as the date also coincide with Australia Day, one of our Australian student also brought in a book called "Welcome to Country". So we combine aborigianl culture with the chinese culture to create our own version of aboriginal inspired art work. See more

20.01.2022 Children need lots of unstructured #play time to benefit their developing #brains, and they tend to have a natural awareness of what they need to naturally grow... up healthy and strong. Every child develops in a particular pattern. For example, they have to be able to sit up by themselves before they can crawl and eventually walk. And this is part of why a child naturally progresses to loving swinging sensations when they are in the midst of developing coordinated motor movements. Their sensory system is ready to organise and interpret moving information, and swinging is a fun way to do that. The #proprioceptive system, located within muscles and joints, provides a child with a sense of body awareness and also detects force and pressure while they swing. Meanwhile, their developing #vestibular system, located in the inner ear, detects movement and gravitational pull. The timely development of these senses can help a child learn to calm down if they are easily overwhelmed by sensory stimulation, or can help bring alertness to a child who needs sensory stimulation to facilitate attention and learning. The balance that feels so natural to an adult is a complex process where large groups of muscles work together to maintain postural control. It's very easy to forget how much we all loved swinging when we were little, or to minimise it as frivolous play without serious and necessary developmental benefits. If your child loves to swing, try to make some extra time for them to explore this super-activity. You will be helping their little brain grow in harmony with their body, and they will love you for it. #neurochild #childdevelopment #letthemplay
18.01.2022 We have the evidence, let’s shout it from the rooftops so that both parents and practitioners can make the best informed choice for families! Preterm-born c...hildren are at higher risk for more developmental needs and delays when compared to full-term peers. Inaccurate understanding of bilingualism leads many to abandon their home language to help the child! But research is suggesting otherwise so our decisions and recommendations should be otherwise. September is NICU awareness month - Would you please help spread this information, whether via social media or by word of mouth!? The more of us who know it, the better chance these kiddos and families will have of sustaining family languages Thank you to these researchers for advancing our evidence that bilingualism is beneficial and not harmful EVEN for those at higher risk or with delays and disabilities: Baralt, M., & Mahoney, A. D. (2020). Bilingualism and the executive function advantage in preterm-born children. Cognitive Development, 55, 100931. See more
18.01.2022 Happy Chinese New Year! At CAECC, children in our centre were being taught about the many cultures that celebrate the Chinese New Year. As well as having practical interactive lessons that engage and inform them of some of the important cultural practices, they gained hands-on experience through our child-led programs that focused on developing important literacy skills, as well as focusing on respect and appreciation for the many cultures that make up our community. However you celebrate this Chinese New Year, we hope that you enjoy your time with your family and have a prosperous Chinese New Year!

16.01.2022 Looking for some gift ideas for our staff for educators day. Does anyone have any ideas?
15.01.2022 Did you know that a 3-year old (top left image) and a 6-year old (top right image) have significantly different skeletal structure in their hands?! Notice the b...ones in the wrist of the 3-year old -- many of them are still mostly cartilage! Look at all the spaces in between the bones where muscles and tendons will change through the years. Even the difference between a 6-year old and a 14-year old (lower right) is huge! Preschoolers have SO much development to do before they can write the way school-aged children or adults can! Please do NOT stress if your preschooler does not want to write or draw. Some love it and some don't. While they are growing, strengthen those little bones and muscles! Here are some great pre-writing, muscle-strengthening activities: * painting, drawing, coloring * playdough * tearing and cutting * gluing * poking holes in things (try toothpicks and paper!) * digging in dirt * building with LEGOS, marble runs, or other blocks * beading (try beads, cut straws, or even bobbins!) * puzzles * squeezing (try stress balls, squeezing water in a sponge, or using a pipette) * picking up and throwing balls (use different sizes!) * playing with toys (watch what their little fingers do when they pick up and move little cars, marbles, action figures, etc!) . These all strengthen and help develop little hands, muscles, and bones. When they are physically ready to write, it will be so much easier than if they were pushed when they didn't want to and weren't ready! <3

06.01.2022 *Basket for Love at CAECC* Dear CAECC Families, We really appreciate all the CAECC parents and families for your continuing support for our center in this time of year.... During this period, we can help those who need it most in our community. In a small way, we would like to contribute to these families in order to ease their immediate needs. Giving basket has been set up in the foyer of CAECC for donations of non-perishable food items and gifts for families in need. Please kindly put the items and gifts in the basket. If you saw any items in the basket you need, please free feel to take it and replace it with other items in the baskets. Your kind donation will ensure that the people in need do not need to choose between paying for rent and food. This will make a real difference to people in need during this hard time. Thanking you in advance.

05.01.2022 CHILD CARE / ELC INFO - Important message for those who have children enrolled in an early learning or child care centre. DON’T UN-ENROL them to save money. The...re’s actually financial support you can receive... There is so much uncertainty in the world at the moment and so many people are losing their jobs, please don’t add your child's educators to that list. Talk to your centre/educator first. There are a number of things in place from the government to help families and to stop child care services from going bankrupt but these measures are only helpful if the children STAY ENROLLED. Firstly, if you or your partner has lost their job or had your wages cut, you can go on to your MyGov page and apply for temporary financial hardship. This means that the government may pay your childcare fees in FULL for 13 weeks. The government has also committed to paying the CCS portion of the fees in the event that the services do go in to lock down. What this means for services is that we can keep paying our educators, our rent, etc etc etc. It means that at the end of all of this, there will be services (FDC services and centres) to send your children to. Speak to your Centre Director and Family Day Care Educator. Find out your options, BEFORE just pulling your children out.
04.01.2022 We absolutely love this coronavirus edition of where is the green sheep by Ian Nash-Gilchrist and his 10 year old son. I wish my high school teachers had of been this cool. Where is the Tik-Tok sheep
04.01.2022 The online scams taking advantage of COVID-19 fears and newly unemployed. Please be cautious and stay alert at all times. It’s really important when you get contacted out of the blue, no matter who they pretend to be, not to give away personal information. If you think it’s real, go and contact the organisation directly. Trusted sources:... *For government information on COVID-19, head to health.gov.au. *Centrelink and the ATO will only send communication via the myGov portal. You will likely receive a text message to alert you to a new message but they will not include a hyperlink in that message. *Use trusted sites for online shopping, that offer recourse if you are unhappy with your purchase or the goods are faulty. These include most of Australia’s online retailers and eBay. *Check out ScamWatch to see the latest known scams and how to avoid them.
02.01.2022 This is the best and such an important message for all of to remember!
