24.01.2022 Day #3/10 songs that influenced me in my first 20 years 1983-2003. This is close to you by the carpenters 1985. Karen carpenters voice is still one that gives me the goose bumps. ... Those low tones I grew up on this music and watched the documentary ‘The Karen Carpenter Story’ at least weekly. I really needed a piano to do this song justice. So you get a backing track I was encouraged by my beautiful friend Emily Baitch to ask for your requests. What was 1. Of your fave songs/albums from 1983-2003 that you’d like to see me cover??

23.01.2022 No. 8. Fields of gold. It’s been a while but we’re nearly at 10. This one is an Eva Cassidy cover from her 1992 album songbird. Another female voice that has helped shape my own.

23.01.2022 Back by request! Get into the beat...

22.01.2022 Mum let’s make a song Me: what should it be called... Bing, bang Listen until the end to find out why ... Also notice him say Listen with your ears. This usually means - 1. Don’t sing or 2. Watch me do this. Little ones need to learn through play. Provide them with some instruments even if they are just pots and pans and MAKE music with them. If they are immersed in the kind of environment where music is enjoyed and encouraged they will flourish. You don’t have to have talent you just have to have fun

22.01.2022 No 7. The one and only Missy Higgins. The special two (2003). The first time is saw Missy live she was supporting John Butler at the civic theatre. She was so nervous, she didn’t say a word the entire set. Almost 20 years of Missy’s music and I still LOVE and listen to her and learn from her.

22.01.2022 Day 2 # album/artist that influenced my first 20 years on the planet the most This one is called Nothing New and was my favourite track from the Waifs album - Up all night, 2003 (only just sneaks in 1983-2003). They are still one of my favourite bands today and are also the band that I have seen LIVE the most times.

17.01.2022 Mini music session #2. This will keep you moving and smiling today. All you will need is a scarf or piece of fabric to dance and shake with. Enjoy Song: Shake it off - Taylor Swift

15.01.2022 Check out my website!! It went LIVE today. Thanks to the creative genius of my friend and creative, musician, photographer, yoga teacher....(ALL the things and more) Cat Mead!! I love it and I love you. Thanks so much. If you need an affordable website without any headaches then i'll put Cat's details in the comments. Also a BIG shout out to Alisa Nyquist for designing my logo. I love supporting women in business. Alisa is an incredible artist and teaches art classes for kids. Find her details below and share the love around. Loving this fresh start and all that is unfolding - Watch this space ;) xx

14.01.2022 No. 6 - artist of influence - Katie Noonan. This is special ones from 2001 (George). I was captivated when I first heard Katie’s voice. She is one of the best in the business in my opinion. So technically amazing with a vocal range that stretches for miles. I never felt like I could do her songs justice and wouldn’t have even attempted this 12 months ago because it wouldn’t have been good enough. ... Here I am doing my own version of this song because I love it and it feels good and means something to me. That is why we should all sing right??? Katie has just released a new album of covers (the sweetest taboo) that influenced her when she was young so it’s nice to return the favour.

14.01.2022 Singing songs of hope in our house

14.01.2022 It’s a lovely day for making music Mini music session #3 is here You’ll need something to shake today.

14.01.2022 I thought this was appropriate to post on a page with CHIRP in its name. I am a cross bread of magpie and fairy wren. You can call me fairy pie . What are you?

14.01.2022 What can I do?? How can I engage in this?? These are questions being raised in response to the bushfire crisis we are facing. What keeps me hopeful is the flow of generosity, creativity, courage, love and all of the inspirational ideas and actions of everyday people. This is what I choose to focus on. I acknowledge that this is easier to do and say when I haven’t directly experienced great loss or devastation yet. My heart breaks for those who have. ... We all have a voice and a choice. We all have something to contribute. Those who can sew are sewing Some are making music Others donate , paint, build, fight, cook , pray , protest. Do YOUR thing no matter how big or small, whether you chirp or roar . Inspire our nation and the world and our neighbours and kids to choose hope and courage over fear. Be kind always. Now I fly, hit the high notes I have a voice, have a voice hear me roar tonight, you held me down, but I fought back loud. I shout it out like a bird set free. #SIA

14.01.2022 Congrats to Billie Eilish for your number 1 in JJJ hottest 100! A bit of trivia for those of you who were in my Music Together classes at Rhythm Station. Billie’s Mum was also a Music Together teacher Immerse them in music learning when they are young and you will leave the musical window WIDE open

13.01.2022 Nate and I are working on a pancake song! Stay tuned... I’ve always wanted to record a children’s album. This could be the first track

10.01.2022 You know that 10 albums in 10 days thingo? I’ve been tagged in it a bunch of times and avoided it due to serious choice panic!! HOW TO DECIDE ... I’m going to do something a little bit different and sing 10 cover songs from 10 albums that not only influenced me in my first 20 years on the planet but..... I actually wanted to BE these artists So the 10 songs I’ve picked were released between 1983-2003. Not in any particular order of obsession but first up is Mariah Carey - Dream lover

09.01.2022 This is the closest I’m ever going to get to being on playschoool I’ve had the privilege of returning to one of my old workplaces to sing, dance, create and learn at Essential Play in Newcastle. This early childhood program is for 1-5 year olds and has a big focus on child development. ... There is a rhythm to each class that is based around the theme of the storybook used each week. There is music, movement, massage, visual experiences and even cooking. If you’re not local to Newcastle or have been wanting to check this program out. Now is your chance. It’s never been offered online before. Watch and participate as many times as you like. You can check out a sample class and subscribe to the online @ home classes here - https://essentialplay.com.au/

08.01.2022 No. 4 artist/album that influenced me between 1983-2003. This is Tomorrow by Silverchair. This was the first CD I bought with my own money (and didn’t just steal from my brothers room). ... It’s always nice when you have a similar vocal range to the person you’re singing along with.

08.01.2022 Just a little bit excited to teach my first music class after 9 months of covid. It felt so good to be back Thanks Joeys at Morpeth for having me.

06.01.2022 This is one of my all time favourites!! You are my sunshine - Elizabeth Mitchell. Her voice will float through your ears and your souk like a feather. Do yourself a favour and listen to this album with your kids today. Let me know what your favourite track is.

05.01.2022 Mini music class

05.01.2022 Album/artist number 5 that was super significant. The Bangles - eternal flame 1988 I still remember one birthday party I had in very early primary school and a bunch of us girls were in the car on the way to Pizza Hut singing this so loud on repeat.

05.01.2022 hahahahahaha YEP!

04.01.2022 My dear friend and wild sister Elisha Xantaya challenged me to share some ‘soul juice’ to keep things a little more high vibe around here. It’s taken me 4 days to accept the challenge because I haven’t really felt like participating in the online space and I’ve been trying to settle into the new home school/ home life reality. I miss teaching my little kids music classes! ... It bought such joy to my week seeing their faces and their excitement to make some music I miss hugs too! Besides that, we are healthy and having a pretty great adventure. How are you guys? I wrote this song a few years ago when my kids were little and struggling with some separation anxiety and I feel like it’s very fitting for this time in our lives. Separation is tough! No matter where we are we can still have the biggest LOVE in our hearts. We can share this love with the world and with our friends and family and neighbours near and far. I hope this brings a smile to your face and some warm fuzzies to your hearts Feel free to add a verse or 2 in the comments!!

03.01.2022 From the mouths of babes...

03.01.2022 Today’s favourite artist is Casper baby pants: Aka: Chris Ballew who was the front man of The Presidents of the USA. What’s your favourite track.
