25.01.2022 With all the advice going around about Coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to reiterate that the best way to protect yourself is the same as you would against the... common cold. - Wash your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with soap and water - Cough and sneeze into your elbow or a tissue - Stay at home if you feel unwell with flu-like symptoms. - Avoid close contact with anyone with flu-like symptoms. It may sound simple, but these are some of the best ways to limit the spread of disease. For more tips and information, visit NSW Health: https://bit.ly/2TGtqqb

23.01.2022 Hunter New England Health is now providing care and support to a second person confirmed to have COVID-19 in the District, a female in her 60s. This case was a...nnounced earlier today by NSW Health. Health staff are undertaking daily wellness checks with this woman, who is in isolation at home and doing well. There is no connection between this second case and the previously announced case from earlier in the week, who also remains well in home isolation. The female in her 60s has not travelled internationally and the source of her infection is still being investigated. Hunter New England Health has contacted this woman’s close contacts, who have also been asked to self-isolate for 14 days from last contact. They will be contacted every day by the public health unit to check that they are well and any contact who develops COVID-19 symptoms will be tested for the infection. The woman received outpatient care at the Calvary Mater Newcastle Radiation Oncology Unit and was seen between 4 March and 12 March 2020. Any patients or staff who are possible casual contacts are being contacted as a precaution. Anyone who attended the Calvary Mater Newcastle Radiation Oncology Unit between 4 March and 12 March 2020 should be alert for fever or respiratory symptoms. If they develop any of these symptoms, they should contact their GP or present to an Emergency Department. NSW Health is continuing to trace and respond to cases as they are diagnosed to slow any spread of COVID-19 in the community.

16.01.2022 As of 12 March,NSW Health have advised there have been 78 confirmed cases of Cornoavirus or COVID-19 in NSW. 34 are from likely overseas sources; 32 known cont...acts of a confirmed case, 10 are under further investigation, and 2 are yet to be identified. There is no need to massively change what you are doing but it's not business as usual. Everybody needs to be alert, but not panicked. The best way to protect yourself from COVID-19 is the same way you would protect yourself from catching flu or other respiratory illness: - Clean your hands with soap and water or hand sanitiser. - Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze. - Avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms. - Stay home if you are sick. If you do feel sick, it is important that you cpontact your doctor by phone, or present yourself to the Emergency Department of your nearest hospital where you will be met by highly trained staff, or call Healthdirect on 1800 022 222. 14.01.2022 Thank you teachers for continuing to find ways to connect with kids.

02.01.2022 TOUGHER RESTRICTIONS FOR COMMUNITY SPORT NSW Health has issued new restrictions for community sport. These new restrictions should be implemented by 19 Augus...t and will be in place for the next six weeks, with a view to extend if required. Cease activities that result in the mixing of participants and staff from different regions, for example by ceasing zone, regional or state championships or competition e.g. activities which bring together participants (including spectators and officials) from organisations in different regions of Sydney, from a rural area into a metro area and vice versa, and movement between different rural areas Cease any activities that result in overnight stays (e.g. multi-day training camps) due to increased risk of COVID transmission in residential-type settings with shared facilities Cease face-to-face social activities relating to community sports (e.g. award ceremonies, end-of-season social gatherings, post-training group dinners) Avoid carpools or bus travel with people from different household groups where possible For local activities, limit spectators to one parent only, where the child requires parental supervision during the sporting activity

02.01.2022 Today is World Sleep Day...and with so many events being postponed or cancelled at the moment, with a world in disarray, perhaps some extra sleep is what the doctor called for. Be safe everyone, and get enough sleep. #avondaleschool #reallearningforreallife #aware #worldsleepday
