21.01.2022 Dear Family and Friends, The COVID-19 virus second wave has found its way from Victoria to Sydney and Albury New South Wales. Due to this rapidly changing situation, we need to implement extra restrictions on entry to Legacy on Victoria. ... If you have travelled to Victoria, Sydney or the town of Albury, unfortunately you are unable to enter the facility until 14 days after you arrive back to Coffs Harbour. These restrictions apply to everyone, including visitors, staff and contractors. We are doing whatever we can to protect the health and wellbeing of the residents. We will keep you informed of further developments as they become available. Thank you for your support and understanding.

21.01.2022 Dear Family and Friends, ** Update 25 June 2020 ** We have recently been directed from Chief Health Officer from NSW Health, that additional screening measures have been implemented for all staff, visitors and trades who are entering the facility. ... The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) met on 21 June about the recent outbreaks of COVID-19 in Victoria. The Victorian Government has identified the local government (LGAs) areas of Hume, Casey, Brimbank, Moreland, Cardinia and Darebin as the current outbreaks of concern. These LGAs are all located in Melbourne. The AHPPC strongly discourages travel to and from these areas until control of community transmission has been achieved. Until further notice, Legacy on Victoria must ensure that any staff and visitors who have travelled to Melbourne, or have had contact with someone who has travelled to Melbourne in the previous 14 days, do not enter our aged care facility. On entering the facility, all visitors will have their temperature checked, and asked the below questions - In the last 14 days, have you: Travelled to Melbourne or been in contact with someone who has travelled to Melbourne? Been overseas or travelled on a cruise ship? Been in contact with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19? Are you in close contact with or caring for someone who is currently unwell? Have you currently or within the last 7 days been unwell or been aware of any of the following symptoms: fever, night sweats or chills cough runny nose sore or scratchy throat shortness of breath If a staff member or visitor answers ‘Yes’ to any of the above questions, or have recorded a temperature above 37.5C, unfortunately, they are unable to enter the facility. From 1 May 2020, you must have had your influenza vaccination to visit this facility. This is compulsory. We require evidence of your vaccination status. Unfortunately, if you have not had the vaccination, you are unable to enter the facility until you have received the vaccination. Legacy on Victoria would like to thank you for your assistance and support during this time. Shawn Bergquist CEO/DON

01.01.2022 Some words of wisdom for us all

01.01.2022 What is Aged Care Employee Day? ‘Aged Care Employee Day’ celebrates each and every team member involved in the journey of caring for people who receive aged care services from the nurses and care workers, to the allied health professionals, cooks and hospitality teams, to the drivers, cleaners and laundry employees, to the volunteers, to the leisure and lifestyle officers and administration teams. Through their work, these people often develop meaningful relationships with... our older loved ones becoming defacto family members in the process. Aged Care Employees Day puts these everyday heroes in the spotlight, celebrates them, and highlights the many different roles of those involved in the aged care journey. To all aged care employees, we thank you and honour you on Aged Care Employees Day. This day is for you, to celebrate the incredible work you do, and to show you just how much you make a difference to the lives of older people.
