16.01.2022 We talk about them, not because we are stuck, or because we haven’t moved on, we talk about them because we are theirs, and they are ours and no passage of tim...e can ever change that I read this quote over and over until I started to cry, it resonated so deep inside that it spoke to me, it cleared things up for me, and it made so much sense to me. Someone told me once that they were asked to stop talking about their husband who had died, that it was time to get over it. Who says that to someone? And who gets to decide when you are done feeling loss, or grief or when you are supposed to let go and move on from the loss of someone you love? I talk more about my sister now than I did in the first year of her death. Time does that to you it actually enhances your feelings of loss; it doesn’t make it go away like people tend to say. It is softer for sure, and you find more smiles in between the tears, but at least for me talking about her, keeps her alive within me and I find comfort in that. Everyone grieves differently, there is no set of rules that we are supposed to follow, and no one is ever in the position to tell you to stop feeling. And if you want to talk about someone you loved, and lost, you just go right ahead and share with the world that you loved someone amazing and they touched your heart deeply and they will always be a part of you. That is what happens when you love someone and they die they stay with you always and talking about them is healthy and wonderful and yes, sometimes really hard and emotional but this is your choice!!! When someone talks to you, again, about the ache they are feeling because someone they loved has died, instead of rolling your eyes and suggesting they move on, take pause and be with this person, hear their words, comfort them and love them. Never make someone feel like they have to keep their feelings pushed down deep inside them. Grief doesn’t go away any more than the love you feel does.
