24.01.2022 HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

21.01.2022 Well, I just woke up and saw this... Severe Storms heading into Toowoomba, Ipswich, Beaudesert within the next 30-60mins, then onto Brisbane and surrounding are...as after that. The Gust Front may contain Strong to Damaging Winds and Heavy Rainfall along with Frequent Lightning. Its currently tracking towards the E to NE and likely to survive to the Coastline. All I can say is.... it took 50 days. I'll head out for a chase shortly Image: Weatherzone

21.01.2022 18/2 1:40PM QLD UPDATE IS NOT GOOD... The JTWC has upgraded the Tropical Low East of QLD into a Tropical Cyclone. They have a similar track map to BOM and are f...orecasting the Cyclone to be a Cat 1 system crossing the coast near Gladstone on Friday. Once the TC crosses the coast it weakens into a Low / heavy rain depression and heads inland into SEQLD. REMEMBER a strong surface trough develops ahead of the TC in SEQLD early Thursday morning so we are going to cop the brunt of 2 systems 24hrs apart! 19.01.2022 QLD Junior Firies in #BlazersBrigade have been doing so well these holidays and have answered all of our quiz challenges so far. So we have an extra tricky ques...tion for you today. We know that all campfires and coals should be properly extinguished with water, but do you know how long coals from a camp fire stay hot if you use dirt or sand to put it out? a) 2 minutes b) 1 day c) A week Fires covered with dirt or sand can hold more than 100 degrees of heat for up to 24 hours after they have been extinguished! Even if it looks like the fire is out, hot coals could cause injury or spark a bushfire. Always remember to put out your campfire with water.

17.01.2022 *** Push notification sent*** The HSC APP is available on Apple and Android devices go to the store and search "Higgins stormchasing" >>>LARGEST STORMS OF THE ...SEASON COULD HIT SEQLD / NENSW INC. BRISBANE ON THURSDAY<<< *PLEASE SHARE, TAG AND DOT* Thursday's potential storm setup looks absolutely potent with hot temps combining high humidity in what looks to be a volatile forecast! SUPERCELLS and VERY DANGEROUS SEVERE STORMS a distinct possibility with models suggesting a 75% chance right over Brisbane. These types of storms can cause damage and destruction and contain the following risks: Destructive Winds over 125km hr, Large Hail to 9cm in diameter, Heavy Rainfall leading to flash flooding, an "elevated" risk of tornados. Severe storms LIKELY East of a line from Roma to Lismore with a 90% chance of developing. Severe storms contain the following risks: Large Hail over 2cm, Damaging Winds over 90km hr, Heavy Rain leading to flash flooding. All storms of this nature have frequent dangerous lightning. This forecast is not "hyped" it's real and produced from reliable forecast data. Max temps need to be around 35c for initiation, thus the only inhibiter for severe development would be cloud cover during to day. BE AWARE BE PREPARED Exact locations are impossible to forecast however the map provided shows likely severe storm potential in the red shaded areas at 4pm on Thursday. This forecast will be reviewed tomorrow night for accuracy and minor changes. Stay safe, stay tuned! ~ Jeff Higgins ~ See more

17.01.2022 Commemorative services were held across Queensland today, 10 October 2014, for National Firefighter's Remembrance Day.

15.01.2022 It's time to #GetReadyQld. The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast heavy rain, which may lead to flash flooding, will continue today across the south-east. This... morning, the heaviest rain is located on radar over the greater #Brisbane area. It's pretty simple really: #ifitsfloodedforgetit. Firefighters have had to rescue a number of motorists from flood water this week. One rescue is one too many. Stay safe on the roads, plan your journey ahead of time, prepare your property and call the #SES on 132 500 for emergency assistance. #bigwet

07.01.2022 Please take note of road closures in Beenleigh this weekend.

06.01.2022 As fellow Queenslanders, we understand how much of an impact storm or flood damage can have on you and your families. Thats why were here to help when you need it most. Call us on 1300 303 311 if youve been affected by severe weather and need to make a claim. After a storm or flood there are things you can do to help minimise damage to your property or belongings and to keep you and your family safe. First and foremost, never attempt any clean up that may put yourself, fa...mily members or anyone else at risk. Have your home and/or contents been damaged by a storm? Keep as much evidence of ownership of your property as you can as this will help us to settle your claim quickly. However always make sure you put safety first only retain damaged goods that do not pose a health or injury risk to you and your family. Dispose of any food waste or any other items that may be a health hazard, keeping a list of items thrown away. If you need to throw out belongings that have been damaged, take a photo first. Photographs are incredibly valuable in the claims process. Keep receipts if you need to buy essential items such as bedding, clothing or food after the incident as you may be eligible for an emergency payment. Keep any damp areas well ventilated so they can dry out but always maintain security. Retain a sample of any materials removed from the house (e.g. carpet or flooring) only if it is safe to do so. This will assist us in settling your claim.

04.01.2022 Big thanks to Dan McIntosh for sharing these shots captured last week from Nerrima Station, WA!

03.01.2022 Not all floodwater is caused by heavy rainfall, check out this this image taken yesterday showing water from Breakfast Creek inundating nearby roads due to high...er than average tides. It looks like Brisbane residents could get their feet a little wet today and tomorrow, with BoM forecasting highest astronomical tides may cause low-level inundation in low lying areas, particularly around Bayside and Breakfast Creek. Remember, if your way is blocked by floodwaters seek an alternate route. Its simple, if its flooded, forget it. See more

02.01.2022 Unbelievable pictures coming in from our Sunrise viewers following yesterday's massive storm in Brisbane. The damage bill is expected to top $100 million.
