22.01.2022 Today on the International Day of Peace the City of Cockburn along with Josh Wilson MP, Yaz Mubarakai MLA, and local school kids planted some very special trees and released doves to signify our commitment to world peace. The trees planted today were grown specially from the seeds of a Ginko Biola tree that survived the bombing of Hiroshima despite being only 1km from the blast centre. They will now continue to grow here in Cockburn serving as an international symbol of peace. #InternationalPeaceDay2020

18.01.2022 Attended my son's graduation from John Curtin College of the Arts last night, and I couldn't be more proud. These kids didn't have it easy, they were the first Yr 7s to high school and in their final year their studies, were interrupted by the COVID pandemic and lockdowns. But the resilience and grit they showed to stay focussed has paid off, as they take on the world and move into a new phase of life. Huge shout out to all the parents, teachers, support staff and friends who got our kids through this crazy year... Thank you

17.01.2022 The recent tent city in Fremantle has really highlighted the homelessness issue here in WA and brought the conversation to the forefront. Whilst a local solution is sought, its inspiring to see how some other countries are combating homelessness, as its an issue faced not just here, but across the globe.

14.01.2022 What do you think, Cockburn? We have so many laneways in our older suburbs that could do with a bit of a spruce up, would you help with the gardening if you lived next to one?

11.01.2022 At our last JDAP meeting for 2020, we approved a $17 mil development on Beeliar Drive that will create #localjobs and bring vibrancy to the area, activating a space that has been under utilised for many years. I understand some local business owners are concerned at the potential of #Varsity opening in this location, however its important to note that planning approvals can not be refused based on trade competition concerns. When I asked in my previous post about this devel...opment, most residents indicated support of another pub/bar/restaurant in Cockburn. . . . #CrStone #localgovernment #planning #development #JDAP #Cockburn #developmentsite #property #retail #commercial #opportunities See more

09.01.2022 Bibra Lake odour issue The Water Corp has advised today that they are reducing the flow of odorous gas from the wastewater pipelines to the Odour Control Facility at Bibra Lake in an effort to address residents concerns about offensive odours. They are also investigating other long term odour reduction methods and have set up a dedicated website for updates, see below ... https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/qBYQC5QP11T1wJltzhoOG

07.01.2022 Yesterday afternoon I met up with some upset residents from Wattleup who are fed up with the hooning and burnouts happening every night near their homes. Looking around, there is burnt rubber and blown tyre pieces everywhere. What was once a tennis court is completely blackened by burnt rubber, there is litter strewn around and someone even left their rims behind. The Council is considering removal of the pad in an effort to stop the constant burnouts and hooning in the area.... There are still people who live in Wattleup, they don't deserve to be woken up at all hours of the night. Those who enjoy burnouts are encouraged to do so in a safe environment, such as at the Kwinana Motorplex which re-opens in October.

06.01.2022 What would you like to see Council do to help support volunteers and volunteer groups? Have your say at these upcoming workshops!

03.01.2022 Thanks everyone for coming along and supporting my debut as a professional bingo caller at the Cockburn CRC Bingo last night. It was a little bit nerve racking but a whole heap of fun - except when I accidently called the wrong number , that was not fun and I'm still feeling really bad about that. See you next Monday night for some more Bingo and laughs!
