25.01.2022 Good morning Thrill-seekers, Just bringing you all up to speed with my news: Firstly, last weekend THE LONG GONE DADDYS had two exceptional gigs, which is not ...surprising as we tend to always go well. Saturday night we worked at CLUB BANORA and then backed up on Sunday Afternoon for a Fathers Day show at THE REDLANDS SPORTING CLUB. We struck a bunch of Rock & Roll and Country lovers who really got what our band is on about and reacted very favorably and didn't want to let us go home when it was time. We gave them all cards and they've friended us on facebook and have promised they'll follow us where every they can. This week we're Rocking TWIN TOWNS RSL on Wednesday evening and Friday we're playing at SURFERS PARADISE RSL, both from 7.30pm. As usual we'd love to see you there. Also, a couple of weeks ago my youngest son Evan married the love of his life and best friend Emma at the lovely LeoGate Estate in Pokolbin NSW. All the Doyle's from near and far gathered to witness Evan & Emma take their vows throughout a very touching and quite different ceremony. Emma arrived in a horse drawn carriage and accompanied by their two energetic Dalmatians Poppy & Ted,(dressed in full doggie wedding attire & strapped on video camera's) walked up the aisle to Evan and the wedding party. So cute and executed extremely well. After the ceremony, photos, a few terrific speeches, a sumptuous meal and a song from Evan to Emma, it was time for another surprise: THE REBECCA JOHNSON BAND from Sydney. Evan met Emma for the first time at one of their concerts years ago and thought it a wonderful touch to have them perform at their wedding. Got to tell you, they were sensational. The Doyle's are a very musical family and as tradition would have it, early in the night, Evan grabbed a pair of Drum sticks, had his elder brother Reece (a renowned Guitarist) strap on his Gibson, had his mate Gibbo take hold of the Bass and myself grab the microphone and incited the guests on the dance floor to a totally off the cuff & ROWDY rendition of The Proclaimers hit 500 miles. As a fellow musician and father, I've got to say, even though the day was all about Evan & Emma, I was so incredibly proud of both my sons Reece & Evan, on how well they presented and conducted themselves with the level of professionalism they demonstrated in pulling off such a totally awesome event. I also understand that full praise goes to Emma as well, for her planning expertise. Evan & Emma have been Honeymooning in Greece and will be home this week. Still whilst writing this account, I still have a smile on my face echoing the great joy and pride of having both my boys being now full grown men and Professionals. See more

09.01.2022 Hi Thrill-seekers, sorry it's been a while since I've posted anything, but I've been the busiest I've been in ages. The LONG GONE DADDYS BAND & DUO are going fr...om strength to strength with plenty of work for us. All I seem to hear from most other artist's I run into is gloom & doom, so I guess we must be doing something right. All is good, life is busy but for anyone out there who knows me well, they know I function at my best when I'm running about like a headless chook. Hope you're all well & please be sure to come and say hello when you run across me at any of the venues I perform at. Regards, Chris. See more

03.01.2022 Morning Thrill seekers, Took a night off last night, bought tickets to the Doo-Bop Jazz Bar in Brisbane, to see Louie Shelton & his band perform. It was ...a double celebration as it was part of my wife Kae's Birthday present, with a lovely 2 course meal & show. We were also joined by 2 of my musician mates, Lenny Swanson & Frank Long & we were all treated to a masterful night, with Louie & his Band at their best. Louie's Band was so tight, which was no wonder with the line up: Ben Gilgen on Piano/Keys, Todd Byrnes on Drums and the fabulous Bass playing of Bruce Kerr, then add Louie into the mix & all of a sudden you have the true essence of a stellar live performance. Louie took us on a trip through the decades from the 60's to now, with mind blowing instrumental versions of songs he'd played on through those years, including: Boz Scaggs, Maria Muldaur, Lionel Richie, The Jackson 5's I want you Back, The Monkeys and they kept on coming. Then, they launched into a collection of Louie's favorite Guitarist's solos. Firstly a Great Larry Carlton tune in celebration of Larry's 70th Birthday recently, a breathtaking version of Les Paul's "How High The Moon", Earl Scruggs & Lester Flats "The Beverley Hillbillies" plus snippets from Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry, Marvin Gaye, Luther Perkins, Jimmy page and a cracking solo from Jimmy Hendrix, all of which were "Close your Eyes" and it was them, Accuracy. Wow what a night. It's mid-morning & I'm still smiling. It's so wonderful to know that Louie is here in Queensland & is still the consummate perfectionist at his craft he's always been throughout his career. On occasion, Kae & I get together with Louie & Donnie for dinner and we listen & enjoy his recollections of the famous people he's recorded, some of the things that happened, The wrecking Crew, L A, Nashville, Neil Diamond, Elvis.....believe me, it's always great. Truly, everybody, Musician or not, needs to have on their bucket list, as many Louie Shelton Band concerts as they can get to see, as a priority. Take it from me, you won't be sorry. Well it's back to work tonight after my Brilliance Fix at The Pacific Golf Club from 6.00pm. Till next time, Chris. See more

03.01.2022 These are some of the highlight shots I managed to get of the great day.

01.01.2022 Morning Thrill-seekers, Just a quick few notes on what's been happening in the camp of late: Firstly, a word of encouragement for my old mate Darcy LeYear (lead vocalist with the band The Wolverines who I played with for 21 years) Darcy recently had bi-pass surgery and was very ill and after a lot of ICU care is looking much better and is on the road (finally) to recovery. The band had to cancel there appearances at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, which sent shock waves ...through the industry and fans alike. Great news mate, keep on improving and hopefully you'll make it to Tamworth next year. The Long Gone Daddys are going great and having very good reviews and comments from fans and club management at pretty much most of the venues we play. Still keeping up the rehearsal's and keeping the swords sharp!! as I've always said "there's nowhere to hide in a 3 piece band" every member has to be on top of his or her game to make it all work. This weekend just gone, Rick is away on holidays and on Friday night we had the pleasure of having DRUMMER EXTRAORDINAIRE Paul Doherty fill in at Surfers Paradise with us and he did a fine job. Well done Paul. Last night Steve & I donned the Long Gone Daddys DUO caps and did an Australia Day Rock & Roll Party at Burleigh Heads Bowlo, another cracker gig. We have our sights set on BIG things for the Band this year, so please stay tuned for updates as they materialize. https://www.longgonedaddysduo.com.au/ and also https://www.facebook.com/longgonedaddys2 Lats it folks, talk again later. Chris. See more
