24.01.2022 Some builders are pretty slack with securing the site properly, that’s where we improvise with our own signage for thieves..

24.01.2022 Hi guys ! While we’re all grounded, there’s a lot of people wanting to get a few things done around the house. I’VE GOT SOME TIPS FOR YOU ... Sick of looking at that old, weathered & grey deck ? Want a bit of that DIY inspiration ? Take this step by step deck rejuvenation guide below 1. Start by giving it a good clean. Soapy COLD water only, grab an old broom (clean bristles) and brush into the deck. Rinse off, ideally with a pressure washer however the general hose will be fine 2. Let it dry. You’ll find while in the cleaning process that the deck with either take in the water within 10-20 minutes or it will take a lot longer. Keep this in mind, because it’s important in the drying process. If it’s the former, leave it for roughly 2 hours. If it’s the later, let it dry over 2 nights. Depending how old or how weathered, the first 2 steps are enough and you could be ready to re-seal 3. If you’re not happy with the progress so far it’s time to sand. This is the hardest part which is why if you can, avoid it. You can pick up a sander to hire from all good local hardware stores or you could call me (I know which one will be cheaper) Before you run a light even sand across the entire deck, make sure no nails/screws are protruding the surface 4. Re-seal time. I could list the best finishes for each timber but we’d be here all night so speak to your local hardware shop and let them know what material your deck is. TIPS 1. Do not use warm/hot water when washing your deck 2. High pressure washers are fine to use but will require a longer drying period 3. Wait until your deck is completely dry to start the sanding process, otherwise you’ll be left with a fury surface 4. Any split timbers will welcome premature rotting so it’s ideal to replace damaged timber 5. Cupped, twisted or bowed timbers CAN BE FIXED, DO NOT REPLACE OR THROW OUT. Call an expert with this issue and if they tell you to replace the timber, replace them !! I hope this either helps you or motivates you !!
