24.01.2022 DINO DIG This morning with one of our outdoor activities I hid dinosaur bones in the sand pit and placed the match and measure cards out. We discussed handling the old bones with care and to treat them in a very special and careful way. My little treasures dug for the bones while exploring, investigating, collecting, sorting and measuring. 23.01.2022 SENSORY WALKING ACTIVITY Our little sensory set up this morning had some good use. All children explored the different textures using their feet, and used this area today over and over many times. Lots of smiles and communication took place. Walking barefoot and exploring the children’s feet’s reaction to different textures is not only fun, but helps promote an awareness of their senses and their surroundings. 22.01.2022 Over the last couple of days we have been exploring and making volcanoes in our sandpit. They displayed, curiosity, exploration, interactions, excitement and much moreThey watched with excitement as their volcanoes erupted and made lots of bubbles. The more ingredients they added the bigger the volcano erupted. 14.01.2022 On Monday our school age children join us for holiday care for 2 weeks. We spent a lot of time outside on Monday making more potions which is our favourite play at the moment, balancing on our balance snake beam, running around, climbing and sliding, hide and seek, relaxing on the swings, weaving, chalk drawing. Once we came inside the children read books, pretend play in the sandwich bar, dress ups, making friendships, drawing and much more. My little cherubs had so much fun with the older children Playing with younger children offers older children to act as leaders, to play teacher, and to develop creativity, empathy and kindness- soft skills that kids need and they make and maintain friendships, work and collaborate with others and solve complicated problems.

12.01.2022 Yesterday my little treasures were strengthening the use of small muscles which control the hand, fingers and thumb. Their little hands need to develop dexterity and strength. To assist with this progress we practiced the use of scissors to cut and using crayons to colour and draw. As you can see in the photos these little darlings are progressing well with their fine motor control. 01.01.2022 JACK AND THE BEANSTALK Today we read our story on the ipad. The children were engaged throughout the whole story and we had a discussion about it once finished and they retold the story back about Jack, the beanstalk, the magic beans and the giant up at the top of the beanstalk. We then went outside and climbed a ready-made beanstalk and once they got to the top they all became giants. We then came inside and made our very own beanstalk experiment with our watch me grow kit ...from @ataahua_children. The children were so excited and can’t wait for their beanstalk to grow. 01.01.2022 Today we played our ‘Go away big green monster game’ from @fivestarinspirations package and also read the story. Each child had their own features to make their monsters and we took turns in rolling the dice to see which feature to put on. My little treasures displayed a lot of patience in turn taking, they also named the feature they put on their monster each time. Lots of focus, interactions as well. They all completed their monster creations and they are amazing!! Such a ...great game and so much fun Once we finished our game we read the monster story and all children were engaged and involved. It was a hands on story where we make the monster as we read.
