25.01.2022 McDermott Reserve in Mooroolbark has been left dormant since the Netball Association moved all their teams to Pinks Reserve and it's time to do something with the site and I think we have the opportunity to turn this huge area into something special. Some people are concerned it may get sold off and developed, but there's no way we as a community and especially me as a Councillor would let that happen. My vision for it is to make it one of the best "Open Space" areas in the Shire. It's a huge space, has car parking and best of all it's a blank canvas that we can all work on together. I think it's a really exciting opportunity for Mooroolbark because we need more open areas, greenery and outdoor facilities. A vote for me is a vote for an amazing new project nearby.

24.01.2022 A perfect project for kids to research and come up with water saving and recycling ideas or even learn more about how we already do it, with the fun of a contest to win a prize. A great way for parents to weave learning into a fun project.

23.01.2022 I visited the Red Earth Community Park and playground where I had a chat with some parents about the playground area and footpaths. I think the footpaths in the pics really need to be upgraded, especially for prams, but I chatted to a number of parents about fences around playgrounds. With more and more families using the playgrounds I think we need to begin introducing fences for the safety of our kids. Especially with most playground close to roads and car parks. A great example in the pic below. A definite must on the ‘To do’ list. I’d love everybody’s input to take to Council.....

21.01.2022 Hi all, I’ve just been down a bought a couple of succulents from this fine business in Lilydale, the kids are so knowledgeable and are doing such a great job growing them from seed, support a local pop up business, well done guys! Take a look at their Facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/foursucc.sake.5

19.01.2022 Angels of the community.... they deserve recognition for everything they do every week but especially now.

18.01.2022 This is a local permit just lodged with Council for 14 townhouses.... It's an important one for locals to be aware of and make their opinions known to Council. Sometimes people leave it too long to let Council know what they think and that can effect the outcome greatly, so share this around locally and let's get the community more involved in the decisions around us.

17.01.2022 Here is a little more about me and how I'd like to serve as Councillor in the Yarra Ranges Melba Ward.

14.01.2022 Don't forget to pencil in Lilydale Farmers Market on Sunday 9am-1pm. My Sunday shopping list already includes: - Meat - Cheese - Fruit and veg... - Dips - Grenola and nuts - Puppy treats - Honey - Salami - Pies and quiche - Raspberries - Pork roast - and more I'm sure........ See more

12.01.2022 This is a Webinar organized by Each and a number of Councils (Including our own) to begin their programs of getting out and supporting the community. A lot of people say Council does not and is not doing enough to help, well this is a start and it sounds like a good one. Take a look, it's on in the evening so maybe book in.

11.01.2022 All Lilydale travellers need to know so share it around.

10.01.2022 Cire has come up with another brilliant activity for both Monday’s of the school holidays. Their Youth Space provides parents an online ‘controlled’ environment they can trust to let their kids socialise and play games together in this time of isolation that’s effecting younger people in all sorts of ways too. Parents, take a look and put it in your Monday diary.

10.01.2022 This is interesting to see what they are finding as they dig up to prepare for the new Mooroolbark Station and car park.

09.01.2022 I’ve know Nick a long time, he’s the most creative guy I’ve ever met. This link is to his live interactive shows Saturday mornings, it’s such a good idea and he does it so well. Mums, dads, kids, tune in!

08.01.2022 All business owners take a minute to read through this! We need to take up each opportunity as they get offered to start climbing out of the hole we’re all in, the Government is saying the money and help is there, so let’s chase it....

07.01.2022 Working my way though the Council Capital Expenditure Program, I've been taking advantage of my two hours of exercise to tour the Melba Ward to see the progress of the upgrades and renewal projects for things like footpaths and playgrounds. I was also able to talk to quite a number of people along the way and make notes on all matters concerning them, as well as their ideas for the future of where they live. This was invaluable information that I was able to get because I live in our Ward and have most of it within my 5km radius. I think that's pretty important for someone who wants to represent our area.

05.01.2022 Here are the official details about the elections, it's starting this week...... Vote 1 Chris Templer is all you have to remember......

05.01.2022 All Sole traders get onto this application as soon as it comes out! So many small businesses and single operators need this help, just read through it thoroughly, there will be some catches.

05.01.2022 Here are some points on what I will do and why I can do them if you Vote 1 for me to be the next Councillor for the Yarra Ranges 'Melba Ward".

04.01.2022 Another worthy grant opportunity, available to ‘Any organisation that is an incorporated body, a company limited by guarantee, or Victorian Local Government Entity with an ABN with a project idea that meets the grant guidelines’.

03.01.2022 I use the Lilydale Lake every day and when I met Steve Beitzel, from Sailingforeveryone Lillydalelake and who is the Commodore of the Lilydale Community Sailing Club for a chat, I found out 1,000,000 people every year come through the gates to use it too. I wanted to meet Steve because he's a local legend who loves his boats, sailing and club, but is more loved for his amazing work with the Melba Support Services. He can be seen every day behind Dan's wheelchair where they ar...e known as the running men. Steve filled me in on how they are able to combine their love of sailing and the disability support services where each year they take around 1,000 people with various types of disabilities out sailing on the lake and bring them back in with 1,000 smiles. Such selfless volunteering of those like Steve in a not-for-profit club to create those experiences and smiles for so many is amazing and deserves any support in any way possible. After a long positive chat, one niggling issue I would like to help them overcome is people parking cars in the trailer reserve parking spaces near the boat ramp. I understand many people don't see any harm in using them if they are free, but there are only two of them and they really are meant for those with boats, canoes and trailers. We need everyone that visits to be clear the car parks are primarily for people sailing and kayaking and can't park anywhere else, so I'm keen to help find a solution. I can't wait to see the sails out on the water again soon. See more

02.01.2022 Making Campaigning more fun and engaging. Living, working, shopping and my daily two hours of exercise in our ward means there’s a good chance of seeing me or my trailer around. At the lake today Harry and his son saw the signs and wanted a quick chat to answer a few questions. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me through messenger, email at [email protected] or 0492 151 359. I’m so happy to be getting so much interest and input from our community in our Ward’s future.

01.01.2022 I had a good chat with the workers excavating the Mooroolbark Station carpark where the new station and carpark are to go. They are continuing to find buried artifacts from the past. It's good to see that they are putting so much time into searching below ground first and not just ripping it up. They are finding some interesting things.
