25.01.2022 Jeans for Genes Day 2020 Trying to Make a Difference!!! Every dollar we fundraise goes directly to Children’s Medical Research Institute and helps find treatments and cures for children’s genetic diseases. We couldn’t have done it without our children and families support.... 1 in 20 Aussie kids face a birth defect or genetic disease. Kids just want to be kids, but instead of playing sports with their friends or catching butterflies on a sunny day, these kids are getting liver transplants, taking dozens of medications, or getting their next dose of chemotherapy. It shouldn’t be this way. We can help the scientists at Children’s Medical Research Institute find cures, so these kids can go back to being kids. We rocked our best denim We baked and SOLD cupcakes We also SOLD some merchandise https://www.myjeansforgenes.org.au/jeans-for-genes-day-at-c Thank you all for your support!!! #JeansforGenesDay #J4Gdaretocare

24.01.2022 How lucky are we!!! We had Selena’s puppy (Rumble) visit our school this week, thanks to Selena and mum (Rosa) for making this happen. The children were so excited to say hello, pat, observe and follow rumble around. Animals are naturally a part of a child’s world. Children are surrounded by animals from early age e.g room decor, cartoons, clothes, toys, books etc. When children bond with their pet animals it teaches them empathy and compassion.

24.01.2022 Our adopted Koala pack arrived and we were super excited to learn more about koalas. We read the story book called Nala the koala has lost her home. She searches far and wide, but some places are too sandy, some are too smoky and some are just too scratchy! Where have all the trees gone? A sweet story that gently touches on displacement, finding your home and preserving precious environments. We made a collage of koala on a tree using recycled paper towel rolls. ... We read more about koalas and what we can do to help. #WWF #AdoptAKoala #NalaTheKoala

22.01.2022 Today as the children used their dramatic skills to play on the bus educator Sandi heard Elizabeth shout to her peers quick everyone off the bus before you get corona virus! The educator thought what a better time to introduce Birdie and the Virus a storybook from Queensland Central for Perinatal and Infant Mental Health that is designed to address the changes a child might experience in their day-to-day life as a result of COVID-19. It covers topics such as social distan...cing, the testing process, and the importance of personal hygiene. The story talks about how a virus has made Birdie’s friends sick! Birdie feels lonely and worried. What if everyone stays sick forever? But the doctors and nurses are there to help. ‘Birdie and the Virus’ is part of the Birdie’s Tree storybook series developed by Children’s Health Queensland through the Queensland Centre for Perinatal and Infant Mental Health. Birdie and the Virus has been specifically designed to support the mental health and emotional wellbeing of babies and young children, their parents and families, during the COVID-19 pandemic. #ececd #QLD Health #ChildrensHealthQld #COVID19 #birdieandthevirus #nswdepartmentofeducation

21.01.2022 Science Week - Day 5 How do clouds work? Clouds are formed when water vapor rises into the air. When the vapour hits cold air, it turns back into droplets of water. Those tiny drops of water floating in the air collect and "stick" together to form clouds. When clouds get so full of water that they can't hold any more, the water falls back to the ground as rain.... Science Experiment 1. Fill your jar about three quarters full with water from the tap. 2. Use the shaving foam to create a cloud on top of the water. 3. Let the foam settle a bit. 4. Now drop food colouring into the 'cloud'. As your cloud fills up, the food colouring will fall down into the water creating a rain-like effect. #ScienceWeek2020

20.01.2022 For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet or excite you. Books help us understand who we are and how we are to behave. They show us what community and friendship mean; they show us how to live. A child’s right to discover A child’s right to be healthy Since it was a week full of fun and learning about our rights we ALSO made our educators race each other on the bouncing kangaroos

20.01.2022 For a small child there is no division between playing and learning; between the things he or she does ‘just for fun’ and things that are ‘educational.’ The child learns while living and any part of living that is enjoyable is also play. ~ Penelope Leach

18.01.2022 Mud Kitchens are learning spaces that offer a vast array of possibilities not available indoors. Mud Kitchens in outdoor environments are used by children to explore plants, trees, edible gardens, sand, rocks, mud, water and other elements from nature. These mud kitchen spaces invite open-ended interactions, spontaneity, risk-taking, exploration, discovery and connection with nature. Mud Kitchen Special- Guess the Spice! The children enjoyed trying to explore spices ...from around the world. We have been exploring all different spices at school, as the children love to help preparing their meals for the day. Lots of times while cooking they want to smell the spices or taste things they are not familiar with, they often try and guess what the smell of the cooking is coming from. We thought it would be really fun to teach them about some of the different spices that we use. We wanted to teach them about some of the spices around the world, where they come from and where they are commonly used. We set up the spices on the mud kitchen and encouraged the children to help themselves by exploring and guessing what each spice was. This was a great sensory activity

18.01.2022 Snail Biology As a part of the natural world, we can learn a lot of fun facts about snails by discovering some of their biology. This week we learn that:... Snails and slugs belong to a group of mollusks known as gastropods. Next time you see a snail, you can make your friends think you are smart by saying, "Wow! Look at that amazing gastropod!" Snails are also mollusks, which are a group of animals that have a hard shell. Other mollusks include clams, oysters and the octopus. Scientists have found snail fossils from millions of years ago. In fact, they are one of the oldest-known animal species in the world. By most estimates, snails have been around for more than 600 million years! While slugs and snails are both gastropods, they are not the same animal. Some people believe that slugs are just shell-less snails, but this is not true.

16.01.2022 The children celebrated National Children’s Week with their furry friends by their side. Studies have proven that regular contact with pets or companion animals is physically, emotionally and psychologically beneficial to children and adults alike. Petting and playing with our furry friends can greatly reduce stress levels and feelings of anxiety, while lowering blood pressure. Children who grow up with pets tend to be at less risk of asthma and allergies in later life.... We frequently observe Luka reading to our furry friends, we also often find some of our shy children interacting with their furry friends, they are more confident when talking to or confiding in pets. Caring for our furry friends is a good way for children to learn responsibility and to respond to the needs of others with care and empathy. #ChildrensWeek2020 #Napcan #Acecqa #FurryFriends #PlayLoveGrown #NSWEarlyChildhoodEducation

13.01.2022 Yoga Like adults, children have to deal with their own stress in life. Moving house, starting a new school, preparing for a new sibling - these are all stressful events that affect children. Children need a way to manage stress and anxiety and one form of practice is teaching children yoga. Yoga is one form of practice which includes breath control and specific body postures (asanas), that provides a range of physical, spiritual and mental relaxation. 07.01.2022 The Theme for 2020 is Article 15 Children have the right to meet together and to join groups and organisations, as long as this does not stop other people from enjoying their rights. CEELC is excited to be working in collaboration with Ready Set Go which provides assessment and therapy for children who have not yet started Kindergarten (i.e. aged 0-5 years) for communication and feeding difficulties. Ready Set Go provide the following services at our facility:... - Screening assessments of children to identify those requiring speech therapy or other supports - Individual and group speech therapy for children - Educator / Staff training workshops and resources The speech pathologists follow infection control procedures issued by NSW Health including having their temperature taken each morning, wearing a face mask at all times, regularly using hand sanitiser and disinfecting all surfaces and items used. #ChildrensWeek2020 #SpeechPathologist #SpeechPathology #RainbowCottage #LiverpoolHospital #ReadySetGo #Napcan

07.01.2022 Science Week - Day 2 Who’s Cleaning the Ocean? Children are growing up during a time when the oceans are more and more polluted. What’s more, there is rarely any information on the problem and this is an important part of their education. What’s essential is that they have a way to understand the problem and even better, what they can do about it. Children need to understand what polluting the ocean does to the environment and that there are consequences to their actio...ns when they visit the beach. This sensory activity highlights the issues of ocean pollution and its effect on Marine life. The children are always very open-minded and eager to learn about the environment. It is important to give them that opportunity. Story Books and activities like this helps them understand the role we play in ocean pollution and how each one of us can help to make things better. Children need to be aware that it is not acceptable for sea creatures to find man-made plastics in their living environment. Our hopes are that these children can help us question the choices we make and maybe even one day help solve the problems we have caused. Magic Painting This activity involved marking our paper with sea creatures with white crayons, then painting over with liquid watercolour paint and watching the magic, as what we had drawn magically appeared through the paint. The children enjoyed exploring and experimenting with this activity. #ScienceWeek2020 #DeepBlue #SaveOurPlanet #Recycle #CleanEarth

05.01.2022 Why is it important for children to practice using their fine motor skills? Fine motor skills are very important skills because we live in a world where there are changes, noises, and activities all around usand the sooner that we can teach our children that they can learn using their hands and minds together, the better off they’ll be in the understanding, exploring, and enjoying their world. This simple pipe cleaner and strainer activity teaches children how to be patien...t and think about how they can succeed. While this activity might look overly easy and simple, it does take a bit of planning and consistent thought process for them to succeed. It teaches them how to guide and use their hands and fingers so that they can grasp the pipe cleaners effectively and efficiently. While this might not sound overly difficult to adults, it can be quite challenging for children.

04.01.2022 Early Childhood Educators' Day recognises and celebrates the work of Australia's educators in early learning services for their wonderful contribution to the wellbeing and healthy development of the young children in their care. It's a chance to say thank you to Australia’s early childhood educators on a very personal level by service operators, families and their children. This year has been a particularly challenging and unpredictable year for our early childhood educators.... As essential workers, they had to dig deep and call on courage and resilience to continue to provide children and families high quality education and care, a sense of normality and consistency in these turbulent times. So today we would like to say THANK YOU to CEELC educators, for all that you do and all that you are! We are so blessed to have you as part of The family!!!

04.01.2022 National Nutrition Week Day-Four Vegetable focus - Corn Children’s Health and Well-Wellbeing Mean?... Learning about healthy lifestyles, including nutrition, personal hygiene, physical fitness, emotions and social relationships is integral to wellbeing and self-confidence. Physical wellbeing contributes to children’s ability to concentrate, cooperate and learn. As children become more independent they can take greater responsibility for their health, hygiene and personal care and become mindful of their own and others’ safety. Routines provide opportunities for children to learn about health and safety. Good nutrition is essential to healthy living and enables children to be active participants in play. Early childhood settings provide many opportunities for children to experience a range of healthy foods and to learn about food choices from educators and other children. Physical activity and attention to fine and gross motor skills provide children with the foundations for their growing independence and satisfaction in being able to do things for themselves. #Tryfor5 #Munch&Move #Gardening #Sustainability #NationalNutritionAustralia #ACECQA
