25.01.2022 News just in from parkrun HQ.... South Australia (SA) parkrun was due to reopen in South Australia last Saturday (21 November), however the statewide lockdown unfortunately delayed this. It is now our intention to reopen on 5 December subject to the sufficient easing of restrictions and we will communicate directly with South Australian parkrunners when a date is confirmed.... Hopefully we will have some definitive information shortly.
22.01.2022 Fingers crossed!!! https://7news.com.au//sa-covid-six-day-adelaide-lockdown-t

17.01.2022 This week's parkrun was met with the briefest of rain showers and a cooler day more suited to running outdoors. Early distractions were of the fluffiest of shapes with many 'Oooohs' and 'Ahhhhh's' of admiration at the pups brought in by some of our parkrun family. we must admit.....they were pretty darn cute!! This week 180 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 23 were first timers and 27 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 12 different clubs took part.... The event was made possible by 12 volunteers: Daniel FLEMING Garry WRIGHT David MUTTON Richard A PRICE Andy BEST Mariam MEFAIL Nadzjia (Jia) MEFAIL Pam WAIT Bob HOOPER Debbie OLDHAM Clare IRESON Diana HUNT Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Christies Beach parkrun Results Page. This week was dominated by junior female parkrunner milestones with Jia Mafail taking home the coveted purple shirt for an amazing 25 volunteer appearances, Uchanma Uduma and Amity Lynch bringing home a 10th parkrun victory. Congratulations and keep up the great work. Our only other milestone achieved this week was Errin Henderson who gets to put in his order for the red shirt for completing 50 parkruns. Well done. A huge thank you to all our volunteers for giving up their time and run opportunity to bring the community another free event this week. Please remember to thank these orange vested heroes. Next month, 13th March, Christies Beach SLSC will be hosting their annual carnival, meaning that Christies Beach parkrun will not be holding an evnt that day, that's the 13th of March. We will be looking to take over the volunteer roster of Shiraz Trail parkrun at McLaren Vale to give the hard working volunteers a much needed rest. If you can join us to run or to volunteer, it would mean a great deal to the Shiraz crew to support them at that time. Subsequently, if you can't make it to Shiraz Trail but still want to volunteer, let us know by the usual means...email...facebook messenger...commenting on any of our facbook posts.
16.01.2022 Happy Hump Day!!! In line with the government covid plan, every event has a contact tracing QR code for participants to log in to. We will have several codes for ease of access on the day. Please read through the follow items, Thank you.... General obligations Contact tracing with approved contact tracing system * You must put in place and operate an approved contact tracing system at your venue or activity. * This means either the QR Code provided in this plan (SafeCheckIn), ScanTek or another electronic platform approved by the State Coordinator. You are not allowed to use any different option. * People attending your venue or activity must check in using the approved contact tracing system you have put in place (unless they are genuinely unable, for example if they do not have a smartphone). * If using SafeCheckIn, you must print and make the QR Code provided in this COVID-Safe Plan available onsite to allow people attending your venue or activity to check in. * If and when it is truly impossible for you to use an approved contact tracing system (or for a patron to check in by using it), then you must still keep a different type of attendance record of these people attending your venue (that is, as a back-up option). o These records must then include each person's contact details, and the time and date of attendance. o They must be produced for inspection at the request of an authorised officer. o It is prohibited to use these records for any other purpose than for COVID-19 contact tracing. o They can be physical or digital records. You can also pre-book yourself in by scanning the QR code in the picture and entering the number that is sent to you. We will try to answer any questions you have on this matter.
16.01.2022 News just in.............. 'Dear Event Teams I am writing to advise that due to today’s announcement from the South Australian Government, the reopening of parkrun in South Australia due this Saturday 21 November will now be delayed by a minimum of two weeks. ... Whilst this news is disappointing, we are confident we will see parkrun back again in South Australia in the near future. Thanks for your support,' parkrun aims to provide safe and friendly events. In line with government restrictions, parkrun will forego any start up and continue monitoring the situations. Your health and well being is paramount and parkrun takes this very seriously. Thank you for your understanding and patience. Christies Beach parkrun Team

14.01.2022 There have been some facts unfolding around the resurgence of covid cases in the north and restrictions being put in place surrounding outdoor/indoor contact and non-contact activities. When we have any difinitive information regarding the ability to provide parkrun to the community, we will make a public announcement. Thanks for your patience at this time.
12.01.2022 A quick tour of our beautiful course, courtesy of Rich, parkrun team member.
12.01.2022 With all 132 parkrunners and 11 Volunteers accounted for, we can confirm that no one blew away in this mornings breeze. We were fortunate enough to see the sky clear, allowing for a dry run. Well done to everyone who faced those not so light summer breezes this morning. We gave our visitors from Gawler and Mawson Lakes a very warm welcome, despite the chill in the air. We hope they come back to visit us again sometime. Congratulations to Paul Harvey who ran his 100th parkru...n today. Paul ran his 100th parkrun in true parkrun style, supporting and encouraging others along the course. Thank you for sharing many of those parkrun kilometres with us Paul. It was amazing to see that despite the wind today, 11 personal bests were recorded, and that 17 first timers joined in at Christies today. Our amazing volunteer line up this week led by RD Rich Price included Daniel Fleming, Garry Wright, Colin Ware-Lane, Brenda Pearce, Tanya Lehmann, Charles Wright, Mariam Mefail, Jia Mefail, Debie Oldham and Diana Hunt. Thank you hi vis heroes for braving todays conditions for us all. If you would be interested in chipping in with a volunteer effort, head on over to our volunteer page https://www.parkrun.com.au/christiesbeach/futureroster/ to see what role you might like to fill and drop us a line. Want to check out todays full list of results? Head to https://www.parkrun.com.au/christies/results/latestresults/
10.01.2022 And just like that......it was February. Time flies when you're having fun, they say. Well if that's the case we're having a blast!!!! A big thank you to everyone that has stepped up and made our return to the Espy possible, after we were given the go ahead to get parkrun up and, well, running again. January saw new faces in the orange vests, joining in to ensure parkrun happens every week. As you can see, going forward into february, we will be giving a shout out for everyon...e to have a go and take on a vollie role. The keen-eyed among you will be asking why is it saying 'No Event' for the 13th March. Christies Beach SLSC will be hosting their annual carnival and due to the great increase of traffic in the area, parkrun will not be holding an event that day......well............not at Christies Beach at least. The event team will be looking for volunteers to help with a Shiraz Trail take-over. Being one of our smaller events in the Onkaparinga area, it is a great opportunity to give the Shiraz Team a much need break and a chance to support other parkrun events in the neighbourhood. So hit us up if you can vollie at anytime through February and email [email protected] to let them know you can be there for them on the 13th March See more
09.01.2022 Breezy (you know we mean windy) with a 20% chance of rain, clearing as the morning unfurls. If you're planning on being a volunteer or parkrunner, please be mindful of conditions. Scan in from home or with our volunteers at parkrun. QR code posted for convenience. Remember, only printed, tag or silicone band barcodes accepted. Barcodes on devices, smartwatches or phones are not accepted. Please don't put the scanning team in a difficult position with them having to refuse ...to scan your barcode. Thank you. See more
09.01.2022 Many will wonder how we will facilitate parkrun with social distancing in mind, well...we've been using the Virtual Volunteer App since last year and are well practiced. For anyone that wants to know more information on what the app does, check out the following video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwnTrEAoWdw&feature=share

07.01.2022 Many have heard the great news from other sources, to be honest, news as fantastic as this will always travel fast. The latest update from parkrun HQ, yesterday, stated : In South Australia, we have been working closely with the COVID Management Plan Team and SA Health and are delighted to confirm parkrun events will reopen in SA on 21 November.... Our event team will be working closely within parkrun Australia guidelines to ensure a safe start up and continuation with our sorely missed run by the sea. We have been given a 3 week window to ensure that Christies Beach can make the roster requirements for our restart and continuing with the weeks to follow. We will be putting it out there for anyone to get in touch with our team to assist with volunteering, but for the moment, we'll just bask in the glory that parkrun is returning to the Espy and SOON!!!!
07.01.2022 What an amazing and overwhelming response. We have a team for the return of parkrun. A huge shout out to everyone who has ensured that we can make this happen. If you missed out on it this time, just hit us up and we will put you in for the week of your choice.
06.01.2022 In preparation for a return to Christies Beach, please could everyone familiarise yourselves with the Volunteer and Runner/ Walker Codes Of Conduct. As always, a huge thank you to the parkrun community for your patience, understanding and enthusiasm to see us all together again. Christies Beach Event and Core Volunteer Team.
