13.01.2022 Part of your self care plan Stay focused on the here and now and avoid thinking too far into the future and take each day one step at a time. Engage and stay connected to friends, family and support networks. Working together with communities, united as a country we can move through this. Thoughts are thoughts, not necessarily facts. Be alert to negative thoughts and don’t give them power. ... Treat people with kindness, support others through this time of uncertainty. Limit information and time on unhelpful media. Constant exposure to anxiety-fuelling stories drives panic and uncertainty. Exercise is key, research shows that good physical health is critical for a healthy mind, focus on good sleep, eating well and working out. Seek help, if you are concerned about yourself or others talk to your GP, the Black Dog online clinic is a good place to start with a self-assessment See more

11.01.2022 "Practising "adaptive emotional regulation" is a key to developing more resiliency now. "There is lots of recent research about the value of being able to regulate your emotions, thoughts, and what you do. And it is very important for children to see adults self-regulating."

10.01.2022 If you feel like you can’t function at full capacity right now, there are very good reasons why. Inspired by my dear friend Amy, whose conversation with me on this topic made me say Ohhhhhh. I guess I should stop beating myself up, then. (I haven’t, but I am trying.)

01.01.2022 Such an exciting day to be back in schools face to face. Heartfelt thanks to St Alban's SC for the opportunity to upskill year level coordinators on some basic counselling skills ( The Accidental Counsellor) and the opportunity to sit with a group of Leaders to review the feedback received from AITSL 360 Feedback Proforma and to set professional learning goals ( PRP) for 2021. I was privileged to hear honest open reflections on areas of strength and areas to further develop in their leadership role.
