14.01.2022 I will be spending some time with my camera this weekend. This year I am pushing myself to learn new things and grow my skills in creative areas outside of my usual work. How about you...do you have a non-work or career related goal on your list for this year?

08.01.2022 Are you an ASPIRING, NEW or SEASONED Wedding Professional with BIG goals to tick off? Do you work from home, your local cafe, library or where-ever you can find space for your laptop? Do you ever crave the buzz of working alongside other people, but not any people, your people; other creatives who get you and have their own BIG goals too? ... Do you want to feel motivated, inspired and most importantly, that you are taking action? A Co-working Meetup could be the solution you have been looking for when it comes to taking action on your goals and that TO DO LIST you have been staring at for too long. http://www.idocrew.com.au/wedding-industry-coworking-meetup/

07.01.2022 I feel guilty saying this in January (isn't this supposed to be the month of fresh starts and energy for all your goals and dreams?), but last week I hit a wall. I have been working on something BIG (it seems like forever) and I was sitting at my desk trying to push through to a deadline I had set myself, when I realised my mind was going round and round in circles and in fact, I was doing nothing to achieve my goal. I was over-thinking everything about this project (someth...ing I can't wait to share with you) whilst scrolling through Instagram. I was anything but productive and this had been going on for the whole day! Heck it had been going on for months! ... My instinct is to plough through the feeling, because I have trained myself to sit at my desk and work. But I have realised recently that 'ploughing through' for me doesn't always mean finishing the project; it means finding something else to do that I can call work - usually scheduling some social media posts, or researching 'something' unimportant on social media. Now there is a time and a place for social media, but the truth is, it shouldn't take up much of your time and it shouldn't be something you do when you have a priority project to finish. ... When I realised what I was doing, I decided I had to change something, or else another day would go by with nothing achieved. So I got up, got a glass of water and went and sat outside. I made myself sit there for 30 minutes without anything to distract me and then it hit me. I had no plan for finishing - just a date I had plucked out of the air. When I got up, I walked inside, got a notebook out and over about a 2 hour period I planned out my first two quarters of work for 2019. And this time the plan is super detailed - not just by week or days of the week, but by the hour and there are regular breaks in nature slotted in too! ... Are you hitting a brick wall with something you want to achieve? It is so easy to spin your wheels when the only plan you have is that you want to finish something. Would you be interested in learning more about my planning process and how I broke 5 projects down into minute detail so I know exactly what I have to do, when for the next 6 months in order to achieve my goals? Let me know in the comments. I would love to hear from you also if you have your own tips for pushing through a brick wall. ... Have a fabulously productive day! XXX See more

03.01.2022 Last month I turned 50 and last year I had been planning a sailing holiday on a rented Catamaran in the Whitsundays to celebrate my birthday this year. My friend and colleague Lisa of @socialised was hoping to be there too as she and her family had plans to live in Australia for 6 months (they live in NZ). But as with so many of you, my plans changed - thanks Covid-19. No trip for Lisa and her family and no sailing trip in the Whitsundays for me - not after a year of weddin...g cancellations, refunds and postponements. Undeterred, we planned a lovely trip on our own much smaller boat - one that would take us along a beautiful River dotted with spots to stop and go antique shopping and have a drink or two by the water. I live in Qld and the river is in NSW. So again, the plans changed. We can't go that far over the border from here - not even with the recent easing of restrictions. The entry point is just below the area that has just opened up between Qld and NSW. Now, we're heading back to a place we've been several times before, the Fraser Coast. And it's gorgeous. I can't wait and we're hoping the Whales will still be there (they're migrating south at this time of year) This is not a bad substitute holiday at all - even if it's not the one we planned. I know I'm lucky!! Trust me I do. I also know that even a small holiday like the one I am planning is out of reach right now for so many of you and my post isn't meant to make you jealous of me I promise. Instead, I want you to think about what you can do. Not what you can't. Even if it's sitting on your balcony to catch a bit of sun. Or ditching work for the rest of the day and snuggling up on the couch to binge watch your favourite series. Or having a bath and bubbles (the drinking kind) - in the middle of the day. If you can't take a holiday what can you do - do something fun or naughty or that you would never normally do - because you deserve it! There is always some light to be found in every day - sometimes we just need to look a little harder for it. Let me know in the comments if you would like me to share some pics from my little adventure. Along with whales I usually spot turtles, stingrays and my favourite - dolphins . And if you decide to do something special for yourself why not share a pic or tell us what you're up to - someone reading this might be inspired by your approach to looking on the lighter side of life.
