25.01.2022 Lavender blue is another of those iconic colours of Provence. Here it's balanced with soft whites, cream and a blue and white damask bedspread. The Louis XVI bedhead with its elegant carving is made lighter with a cane panel. For the lounge we picked a Louis XVI coffee table, in a fully gilded base with white top and glass inlay, to open up the room and so that the designs and colours of the rug can be fully appreciated in the interior. There is a lovely contrast between the richness of the Australian cedar in this Victorian-inspired bedhead being combined with a French toile de jouy. This fabric was popular at the time of Louis XV, bringing the romantic bucolic country scenes into their everyday lives. We used a toile pelmet to contrast with the plain linen curtains,which have a blue and white toile fabric border on the side and bottom. The little red trim on the pelmet picks up on the red stripe of the bed cover. A soft sheer swag decorates the bed giving that French country home old world quality.... Here we see in the centre of the room a fireplace with a lovely French mirror reflecting a French provincial chandelier with hand painted roses and as well as a print. And on the side a toile, curtains crowned by a French provincial white painted pelmet.
