21.01.2022 The soapy bucket of death. I have a small bucket of water and dish washing liquid to drop In, shake off, dispose of my harlequin bug plague. Also my Earwig plague. So far the harliquin bugs are sill over wintering on the mallow plants so they are easy to find and dispose of before they spread to my new spring foliage plants and fruits.

19.01.2022 Excess celery that had to be cleared to make way for the potato crop has been dehydrated and stored in glass jars for future use in soups, stews etc. preserve the harvest.

14.01.2022 Beetroot! Eat it all. I wash and store the leaves to use like spinach, stir fried or raw in green smoothies. I roast the stems in garlic oil to add to salads or included in the veggie roast. And of course I boil and preserve the beets for eating with any meal. Don’t waste any part it is such a delicious and nutritious vegetable that is also easy to grow year round.

13.01.2022 Brussel Sprouts love them or hate them. The key to growing them is starting them early. These were planted in March and harvest in July August and September. I had them under nets to protect from cabbage moth from April to June then the cold weather kicked in, no more cabbage moth and the harvest began. No sprays needed. Totally organic. And I love the abundance.

11.01.2022 No where to grow potatoes. How about a potato cage. All contained a roll of chicken wire, a bale of Straw, A base of potting mix. Plant your potatoes top with cow manure and build up as your potatoes expose themselves to you. Build up with compost or cow manure to create a tower type structure. The straw keeps the soil from falling through the holes of the wire

06.01.2022 Spring in my garden is a riot of colour and activity
