14.01.2022 What exactly is the barrier to using sustainable textiles Vs polyester or recycled polyester rPET? Its completely possible for fashion to offer this season’s @pantone 2021 colours using sustainable textiles instead of fabrics that are scary bad for humans, animals & the environment for 200+ years. Eg you’d be amazed how our TENCEL Satin and TENCEL Modal Twill both 135gsm look in comparison to polyester and silk, but ours are both sustainable AND ethical. ... So the barrier is the price right? Our price per metre start at 10 metres AUD23 (USD18, 15) then drops down to $8.50/m (USD6.70 , 5.50) My question is, that although it’s more expensive than polyester, what is the REAL cost? To the environment? It is devastating. And using the precautionary principle, what is the real cost to humans as synthetic fabrics are known carcinogens and hormones distruptors? 08.01.2022 Geez our team at Achieve Australia Disability Enterprise are amazing. After previous training we arrive this morning to see they’ve enthusiastically started work already on our first big commercial job for the legends at @virginaustralia instead of sending their unwearable uniforms and workwear to landfill, our Circular Textile Waste Service will collect, sort, dismantle, rebale and distribute to many of our 19 circular streams all in Australia.... Huge thanks to the team (L-R) Lauren, Jenny, Lisa, Glenyss and Scott and especially Achieve’s MD Leanne Larché who saw so much potential in what we’re doing to keep textile waste out of landfill and provide enjoyable work for her staff.
