13.01.2022 Storytelling Online Workshops - Starts Wednesday 26/8. Have you ever wanted to explore the art of telling stories? In this five-week series of one hours workshop sessions, you will have the opportunity to talk with others who are fascinated by the idea of telling stories. We will explore the various ways we can tell and share stories and the impact that the intended audience has on how stories are heard.... You do not need to already have an idea, but it is OK if you do! If you have something you want to work on and get feedback from others about, you can bring this to work on. If you have never written anything before, we will be developing a group idea (or two, if that happens creativity is very flexible). In five weeks of one hour sessions, our aim is to get started and have fun! Each week we will meet in a video conferencing session only a web-browser and an Internet connection are needed to join in. No complicated software to learn! Book online here > events.humanitix.com/circus-wow-2020-term-3-classes/tickets

13.01.2022 Dear Circus WOW Community. Message from the Circus WOW Committee. In light of the ongoing and growing challenge of COVID-19 and expected lockdown, we have decided to take a break until the end of May. 05.01.2022 COVID-19 (Coronavirus) - Update for classes. As you will have seen in the media, the situation in Australia is rapidly changing in response to the coronavirus. Currently there have been no known cases in the Illawarra, however the situation is changing daily. We are reviewing how this may affect WOW activities such as classes. Currently it appears that for each person with COVID-19, they will infect on average 2 others. Circus classes involve people working in close physical... contact, which means transmission rates could be higher amongst class participants. So What Should We Be Doing? We recognise that our WOW classes provide key social, physical, and creative environments for women, as well as a source of employment for our trainers. Classes will be continuing until we receive any information that changes this. If necessary, classes will be cancelled with credit given to the next term. As a class attendee, please refrain from attending if: - You have any flu-like symptoms, including fever, cough, or difficulty breathing - You returned from travel overseas in the last 2 weeks - You have had close physical contact with a person currently under investigation for COVID-19, or whom is a confirmed case of COVID-19 If you are healthy and do attend classes, please wash, wash, wash your hands. The best way is with soap and water. Second is an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content. If you are able to wash your hands, use soap and water for a minimum 20 seconds (long enough to sing Happy Birthday to yourself twice) as frequently as possible. Avoid touching your face and avoid touching other people’s faces. There are some good websites where you can access reliable and up to date information regarding the virus: health.nsw.gov.au health.gov.au this podcast: https://www.abc.net.au/radio/programs/coronacast/. Some of the information here is from this website about social dancing which also has useful information relevant to circus: https://www.danceplace.com/gr/dance-in-the-time-of-corona/. The WOW AGM is planned to go ahead on the 29th of March with reflection and planning session from 10:00. Please consider nominating for the committee.
