24.01.2022 A simple but moving ANZAC Day ceremony at Sino Iron this morning. With social distancing in place, wreaths were laid at the flagpoles, Jarrod Burke from Heavy Mine Equipment (HME) took his trumpet to the residential village at 4am, the Processing area at 5am and finally the Port Lookout at 6am, giving poignant renditions of the Last Post and Reveille, with assembled colleagues observing a minutes silence. As dawn broke and the final notes of the Reveille drifted across the w...ater, a lone voice rang out from the base of the Lookout, the Maori haka welcoming another day at Cape Preston. Each Pre-Start Meeting across site commenced with the reading of the ANZAC Ode and a minutes silence. Thanks to all who took part and assisted. We will remember them.
