20.01.2022 Hormonal changes in the body during pregnancy lower the immune system, making it harder to fight off disease and infection.

18.01.2022 One way to slow the spread of coronavirus is social distancing. The more space between you and others, the harder it is for the virus to spread. #SocialDistancingDistancingClub #SocialDistancing #OnePointFiveMetres #Sydney

13.01.2022 Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays from everyone here at Citydoc Medical and Dental Centre. Please see below for our Christmas opening hours...

08.01.2022 Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, especially before eating, cooking, or feeding others to prevent the spread of germs.

05.01.2022 Novel coronavirus (COVID-19): There is no need to bulk-buy products at supermarkets including toilet paper, paracetamol and canned food. It is practical for ho...useholds to have a small stock of non-perishable groceries to cover the event that in the coming months the household has been asked to self-isolate for 14 days. However, it’s important to note the role of family and friends in supporting those in isolation and also to note that online grocery delivery services are now available in most areas of NSW. The best way to protect yourself is the same as you would against any respiratory infection. Practice good hygiene by: - cleaning your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub - covering your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or a flexed elbow - avoiding close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms. - making sure you stay home if you are sick. 05.01.2022 NSW Health reminds people that children, older adults and people with heart and lung conditions are most susceptible to the effects of air pollution and excessive smoke. If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities if smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice. Asthma sufferers need to follow their Asthma Action Plan and take their relieving medication where necessary. If symptoms get worse seek medical advice.

02.01.2022 For the safety and wellbeing of our patients and the community, we are taking steps to reduce the risk of COVID-19 spreading by adjusting our appointment arrangements. If you can stay at home then do so. Call us on 8399 5320 to assess if you need to visit us in person at the pratice. If you need scripts, referrals, results etc you can make an appointment with your doctor for a phone consult who will then assess whether you need to be seen.... Thank you for your co-operation at this very trying time.

02.01.2022 *COVID-19* Why are doctors asking you to call ahead? GP clinics, pathology labs and hospitals are places where large numbers of patients most vulnerable and most likely to die from coronavirus attend. ... GPs see a total of 380,000 people a day in Australia. A person aged over 65 makes over 10 visits to a GP annually, more than double the rate of under 65s. Everyone knows now about not shaking hands, good hygiene while coughing and sneezing, washing your hands, and being responsible to prevent the spread of coronavirus. But not everyone appreciates why it is important to call ahead before seeing a doctor if you have a cough, cold, fever, or flu-like symptoms. GPs across NSW have already seen patients who were worried they might have coronavirus. Unfortunately they didn’t read the big sign on the front door of those clinics, or at reception. They didn't talk to reception because they'd booked online and checked in electronically. If they'd noticed any of the public health warnings, they would have rung their practices before entering so their GP could take the proper precautions. Instead they sat in waiting rooms next to vulnerable elderly patients, patients having chemo, patients with multiple chronic diseases and pregnant women. Fortunately most were not considered at risk. However, if they were positive, depending on how long they spent in the clinic, some or all of these things could have happened: 1. Everyone who shared a waiting room with them would have had to isolate themselves at home for 14 days. 2. Doctors and receptionists would have had to isolate themselves at home for 14 days. 3. The practice might have had to close for 14 days, putting medical services under extra strain. 4. Some patients could have caught the coronavirus. Some of these patients are vulnerable, the group with the highest fatality rates (14.8% if you’re >80 years old, 8% if you’re between 70-79). The reality is, GPs have not been provided by the government with adequate personal protective equipment to see you in person or do the swabs ourselves without infecting everyone else we see. We have tried to purchase it. The stock does not exist. Some practices might have 2-3 N95 masks available per doctor, most have none. These would need to be discarded after single use. So depending on the situation, your GP might need to offer you a private phone consultation first. The consultation time, liaising with public health, organising testing in labs and chasing up results can take up to more than an hour and the government has not provided you with a medicare rebate for it. We are asking the health minister to change this. As a clinic we're doing everything we can to protect our patients, and we're looking to see if we can improve our warning system. But we need everyone to do their part. Please call ahead so your clinic can prepare for you.
