24.01.2022 If you've visited Trust Reserve, Semaphore Park over the past few months you will have noticed our Place Making and Open Space teams have been busy. Check out the wonderful colours in the mural by artist MuscularTeeth in our video (with some help from his talented mum too!). "Being next to a school and surrounded by many homes, the idea was to give the wall a bright, colourful, vibrant, fun, happy piece of art for all ages. I spent five days on site and I met a number of loc...als, including some young kids who lived in the nearby homes. Polite and inquisitive, they watched for hours. I noticed how keen and careful they were so I asked them to get some smaller brushes and they helped me to paint a few parts on the lower part of the wall. They then asked if I could put an Aboriginal flag in somewhere and I was happy to oblige." - MuscularTeeth We love this piece We are also moving forward with the revised plans for the opposing wall after the artwork (by Di Caught and the schoolchildren from Westport Primary School) was graffitied. We look forward to sharing the updates with you in the new year.

20.01.2022 ***UPDATE*** Works will now start on Monday 16 November. Thanks for your patience. The shared use path along the River Torrens Linear Park (from Findon Road to Riverway/Jasmine Grove) is due for a reconstruction ... There will be six stages of construction to help ensure minimal impact on users however the Findon Road underpass along the River Torrens Linear Park will be required to be closed for up to five weeks from 9 November 2020 while we undertake Stage 1. This closure is to allow a safe working environment for our contractors as they will be constructing close to the riverbank. There will be an alternative route during this time for path users. Please see the detour map on our website for more information. The remaining stages will continue to have path access throughout the project, however we ask that you please take care and follow signage detours in place. The project is estimated to be completed in July 2021.

17.01.2022 Since the Hooded Plovers started nesting at West Beach, our Animal Management and Open Space and Recreation teams have worked closely with Birdlife Australia and Green Adelaide, assisting with signage, fencing and education on the beach. We are lucky to now have two nesting areas, with a nest at Henley Beach and a chick north of the Torrens River outlet at West Beach. With an education event held this week, it was great to see so many dog owners doing the right thing around ...the nesting sites. It's a good reminder to keep an eye out for Hooded Plover signs, leash your dog, only walk below the high tide mark and move away quietly when you spot hoodies on the beach. The Hooded Plover program on the Adelaide and Fleurieu coastlines is jointly funded through Green Adelaide and the National Landcare Program, and is coordinated by Green Adelaide and BirdLife Australia. 13.01.2022 The Pets of Charles Sturt Dog Blog contains a whole lot of useful information to keep you and your pet safe and happy. With the temperatures rising over summer, here are some tips to keep prevent your dog from becoming a hot dog. Schedule walks or playtime for early morning or late evening when it’s cooler. If the ground feels too hot to touch, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws If possible, keep your dog inside on hot days. If you can't, make sure they have a space that’s... cool, shady and well ventilated with access to fresh, clean water. Fill a few bowls or buckets in case one gets tipped over. A small paddle pool shallow filled with water could help your dog cool down and give them extra water to drink on a hot day If you’re home during the day, add some ice blocks to your dog’s water regularly. Fill an empty ice cream container with water, drop some dog treats in and freeze it. Tip the ice block out and they’ll love you for it. You can find more tips on our website.

12.01.2022 Happy New Years Eve This time of year often brings celebratory fireworks and while there are no approved fireworks within our City, there may be some planned in our neighbouring council areas. Here are some helpful tips to help ease your pets: Ensure your dog's ID tag is on and all registration and microchip details are up to date. This will help us to reunite dogs with their owners If you are away and can not take your animal with you, have a friend, neighbour or famil...y member look after them Double check gates and doors are secure and there are no gaps in the fence and there are no steps, buckets or chairs for the dog to jump over. Avoid tying your dog up or using a crate to control them - they may injure themselves in panic An additional walk or run late in the day will help tire them out and make them calmer Our officers will be out to assist with any lost dogs so please call 8408 1111 if your pet escapes.
