09.01.2022 Calling Bindjareb artists from the Mandurah region!! Exciting opportunity for artists artwork for the new Western Foreshore play space! The City of Mandurah is looking for line drawings and stories from local Bindjareb artists about the life cycle and significance of the Casuarina tree.... Expressions of interest by the 11th of December. Designs need to be received by 15th January. Successful designs will be translated as embedded metal works, etched or sandblasted designs in the footpaths and structures in the play space. There is a fee for the successful artists whose works are chosen. 04.01.2022 We're now in KAMBARANG season according to the Noongar calendar! This is the season of transformation & flowering. What changes can you spot in our environment during the months of Oct & Nov?? For the Noongar people, this was a time to head towards the coast where they would encounter beautiful wildflowers including the Mooja (Australian Christmas Tree), whose bright orange/yellow flowers would signal that warmer weather is on its way. In the swamps, they would find k...ooboolong (frogs) & marron (freshwater crayfish). As we enter into the warmer months, keep your eyes open for snakes & reptiles as they emerge from hibernation. Photo-monitoring points have been installed at nine beaches between Rockingham and Busselton as part of the CoastSnap WA initiative. As part of a scientific study of the coast, we are asking regular beachgoers to snap pictures from these photo-points and post them to Coastsnapwa ... Nine photo-points have been installed between Rockingham and Busselton, and the photos will be analysed by researchers from UWA as part of the Peron Naturaliste Partnership’s Regional Coastal Monitoring Program. Your pictures will help researchers better understand how the coast changes over time, after extreme storms and even due to the long-term effects of climate change.
