24.01.2022 Do you have regrets in life? What if you could face that regret and have a chance to do things differently? This is the basis for this month's featured Literary Anything podcast book. A state lockdown almost prevented a normal recording of this very meta ep with Jayne and Paula discussing The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. Search City of Marion Libraries wherever you get your podcasts, including Spotify.
18.01.2022 How wonderfully festive! This is Christmas at Mortlock. Here is some more information about it, thanks to State Library of South Australia: In a year of change, challenges and champions the State Library of South Australia has brought a little Christmas cheer to town.... After an eight year absence, South Australia’s largest indoor Christmas tree has been erected with the support of SA Power Networks in the stunning surrounds of the Mortlock Chamber. After a year that has seen so much hardship and heartache for so many, the State Library saw a great opportunity to share a bit of Christmas spirit. For many Christmas will mean so much this year as people are unable to travel to see family, friends and loved ones. What better way to show you are thinking of them than coming in and taking a selfie with such a stunning Christmas backdrop. Director Geoff Strempel stated. The State Library is also featuring a display of Christmas ephemera including photographs from decades of South Australia’s much-loved Christmas Pageant, cards - including one from Don Bradman to a friend, menus from Christmas dinners aboard ships, postcards sent home to family and friends by WWI soldiers, and more. Hear the sounds of Christmas including carols and songs by Patsy Biscoe. There are also beautiful books and toys from our Children’s Literature Research Collection on display. ABC Radio Adelaide will have their ‘2020 Time Capsule’ on display where visitors to the Mortlock can follow the prompts to enter their 2020 story digitally and upload to the ABC Radio website. The Christmas tree will be on display until the 4th January, 2021 and the State Library is open between 10am 4pm Monday to Saturday (closed Sundays and Public Holidays).
