20.01.2022 Police were attacked in Fyshwick and forced to close a street in Braddon last night as large crowds of car enthusiasts gathered across the city. Officers were c...alled to Canberra Avenue in Fyshwick about 10:40pm in response to complaints of excessive drinking and illegal driving. Police say spectators surrounded and abused them, and threw items at them. One spectator threw a bottle, smashing the police vehicle's rear window. This video of dangerous driving from Eaglehawk, just across the ACT border, was among dozens posted on social media. Another hot spot was Lonsdale Street, which police closed to try to disperse the crowd. 12.01.2022 A man is in custody after he allegedly tried to kidnap a five-year-old child in Civic today. The man allegedly grabbed the child, who was not known to him, at about 1:00pm in Petrie Plaza. Police say he ran towards a laneway holding the child, but the child's parent and members of the public chased him. The man then let go of the child and dropped a knife. Members of the public restrained him before he was arrested.... A firearm and duty belt were among the items taken from the car, located in Fraser, sometime between 5:00am and midday.
