23.01.2022 Want to know how you can help support the Civil Construction industry? CCF WAs Civil Construction Industry Training Committee is seeking industry support for its proposal to re-classify Certificate III Civil Construction traineeships as Apprenticeships in WA. The committee believes the introduction of Civil Construction Apprenticeships is essential to improve community perceptions of careers in civil. For many young people and their teachers and parents civil constructi...on is seen as an inferior option to a building or mechanical trade. We know thats not the case. Civil construction is a challenging and rewarding field with a variety of interesting career pathways. But how do we change those perceptions and ensure our industry attracts its share of the best and brightest tradespeople? The best way to start as other states have already done is to give Civil Construction qualifications due recognition as Trades, by re-classifying the Cert III qualifications as Apprenticeships. For this proposal to be approved, we need to demonstrate to the State regulator that there is broad support from industry. Thats where our members and other industry stakeholders can help by providing a letter of support. For more information go to: http://www.ccfwa.com.au//show-your-support-for-civil-cons/

17.01.2022 Great news for the subdivision construction sector! The State Government has responded to CCFs calls for a revision to the eligibility criteria for the Building Bonus Grant and HomeBuilder Grant. As we have requested, the requirement for eligible homebuyers to be the registered owner of the housing lot at the time they sign a contract (before December 31) has been removed. The new criteria state that construction must commence within 6 months of the contract date (for the B...uilding Bonus) or within 3 months of the contract date (for the HomeBuilder incentive). Importantly for the civil sector, construction is now defined as commencing when significant earthworks, excavations or physical building works commence. This will take the pressure off civil contractors, subcontractors and suppliers who have welcomed the stimulus effect of the incentive but have feared a boom/bust in subdivision construction under the original criteria.

During the first year of his apprenticeship, Iraj has continually worked hard to excel in his role, as reflected in his enthusiasm, drive, and team spirit. Irajs pursuit for knowledge is insatiable and his mentors have reported that his skill sets are far beyond that could be expected of a first year apprentice. Its also been noted that he is always the first person to arrive to work each morning. Our thanks to award sponsor The Apprenticeship Community WA.
