24.01.2022 It is with excitement I can announce that Telehealth is up and running at MSP! We will be using Coviu, which is a video conferencing platform developed especially for allied health services, including speech pathology. The only requirements for this service are: a device capable of internet connectivity (computer, laptop, tablet or phone), a web camera, speakers and a decent internet connection.

24.01.2022 SOS Feeding update

24.01.2022 Some good ideas about how to discuss wearing face masks with children.

24.01.2022 I am very excited to welcome you to Suncoast Speech and Movement located at 310 David Low Way Bli Bli (at Bli Bli Village). I cant wait to introduce my new friends!

24.01.2022 Developments at the Sunshine Coast practice!

24.01.2022 Knowing some basic sign language can really help while wearing masks- especially for people who are deaf.

23.01.2022 With the focus having been on getting the MSP virtual clinic up and running, I have neglected my feeding therapy updates! Today I had all 3 of my kids home as 2 out of the 3 are sick with what looks like colds. My husband and I decided to test drive our home schooling regime this afternoon. We completed literacy work (using my resources, Seeing Stars by Lindamood-Bell!), exercise thanks to Steves physio program creativity and then feeding therapy. All 3 of my kids helped ...prepare dinner. We taught them to grate cheese, to use different sized knives, to press buttons on the Thermomix. They all ate something that they had NEVER eaten before including red kidney beans, black beans, Mexican flavoured rice and Jarlsberg cheese, purely because they were participating in the food preparation progress. We had the most enjoyable meal we have ever had. Amazing considering the current world situation!

23.01.2022 If you have recently lost your job due to Coronavirus and had hoped to continue to receive therapy for your child, please contact me. I am hoping to set up a number of group therapy programs on our new Telehealth platform to support everyone during this unprecedented time. Please share so friends and families can also reach out if need be.

23.01.2022 I use this all the time, a wonderful visual reminder for kids.

23.01.2022 Speech Pathology Week is next week! 1.2 million Australians have a communication disability- that is a huge number.

22.01.2022 Day two of the SOS Approach to Feeding. So the background is that I have three sick children- my picky eater has croup (first time ever at 8 years of age ) ...and it was always going to be a battle. The other two have colds. So 3/3 put their main meal (risotto) in the learning bowl and my eldest fought with me about clean up. It was never going to be an overnight fix! See more

22.01.2022 Telehealth is set up and ready to go! Welcome to Malvern Speech Pathologys virtual clinic! We are all set to provide eveidenced based intervention via Coviu- a dedicated allied health Telehealth platform. No logins or accounts required- we can send you a direct link to enter our virtual therapy room. We look forward to seeing you soon!

21.01.2022 Just some of the ways we can help our wonderful children who we work with! This boy in grade 3 has never been able to associate letters with sounds. By using his visualizing techniques and artistic talents he can now read.

21.01.2022 The Sunshine Coast practice is hiring! Anyone keen to get out of Melbourne?! Come to the Sunshine Coast in beautiful Queensland! Calling both experienced and new graduate speech pathologists!

19.01.2022 Physiotherapist and all around wonderful man, Steve Follent, is now working Fridays from Suncoast Speech and Movement in Bli Bli!

18.01.2022 Guinea pigs needing loving homes! The time has come when 13 beautiful piggies is a few too many, especially with our therapy dog arriving closer to the end of the year. If anyone would like to open their hearts to some guinea pigs (minimum of 2 per household as they are pack animals) please contact me. Not for sale- free to loving homes.

17.01.2022 For those of you who are new to MSP, my eldest daughter has significant difficulties with emotional regulation, sensory over load and social problem solving. She is the most gifted reader, and has the most incredible imagination for story telling. She remembers EVERYTHING (for better or worse!) and she can hold me so tightly I feel I can combust. Today I couldnt work as she had a huge meltdown and physically and emotionally couldnt go to school, and I couldnt go to work. A parent of clients who I had to cancel today came and brought me this beautiful orchid. I might know a lot about speech, language and challenging behaviour. But I am still a mum coping with a child who is on the spectrum. I love my clients and my Bli Bli community like my Malvern East community. Thank you.

17.01.2022 I have always loved this book- now even more!

14.01.2022 Important COVID announcement: By now my wonderful team has spoken to all Melbourne clients about therapy moving forward. The general request is for all clients who can move to Telehealth to do so. For those who cant due to the nature of their childs impairment, please be mindful that while you can still attend a face to face appointment, this is a constantly changing landscape and we need to ensure we are working lawfully during this time, so please be patient with us. A fe...w points to remember: - DO NOT arrive early for your appointment as you will not be allowed in to the clinic until you booked appointment time. - my speech pathologists will be wearing a face mask and a face shield. - only ONE parent can attend with their child, and that parent must wear their face mask throughout the appointment - do not attend if you or anyone in your family is unwell with any kind of respiratory/gastro illness Thank you so much. Stay safe everyone.

13.01.2022 An absolutely brilliant visual teaching for children!

12.01.2022 I think it is important to remember this!!

11.01.2022 Speech Pathology week- despite the lockdown we are still here! We are still offering Telehealth and some face to face sessions for children who meet risk assessment criteria. Communication therapy is so important- the temptation to wait during lockdown is real! But the weeks are ticking by and early intervention remains so crucial. Talk to us about options for therapy during this time.

10.01.2022 An introduction to the Telehealth platform!

10.01.2022 Paediatric occupational therapist Bev Clarke will be working out of the Bli Bli clinic on Wednesdays and Thursday! We are so excited to be expanding our multidisciplinary team!

08.01.2022 We talk about this all the time in our sessions- there are no good and bad zones!!!

08.01.2022 So it is finally happening! We are moving in to Bli Bli Village. From Monday 27th of July all speech pathology sessions will be operating from the 3rd floor (where the Bli Bli Doctors clinic is). Watch this space for paediatric physiotherapist starting dates!

07.01.2022 Just another wonderful day conducting therapy in the Bli Bli clinic, hanging out with the chickens. My new friend here is a big fan of Audrey (the chicken). At MSP we aim to do things a little differently, to maximise your child's engagement and consequently, their willingness to learn.

07.01.2022 One of our incredible clients, Ruby, has started her own YouTube channel. Ruby has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and she wants to help other children with the same diagnosis who are currently struggling with home schooling. Her parents have consented to me sharing. https://youtu.be/7wGuGlNw0V0

06.01.2022 Malvern Speech Pathology Update Regarding COVID-19. We remain OPEN and operating with NORMAL APPOINTMENTS during these uncertain times. We are prioritising looking after our families and our team 100%; their safety and health is really important to us, while we continue to help our families reach their communication goals. We have therefore added a number of additional precautions to help everyone out. We have the options to provide continued care and support during the... COVID-19 situation if quarantine situations arise or if you yourself need to care for others or yourselves. Everyone's health is the number one priority during this situation. Here are some of the things we are doing to help our community and team: We WILL REMAIN OPEN AS NORMAL with; 1. Additional cleaning and hygiene precautions. You will see our team adding addtional cleaning and frequency of cleaning to hard surfaces such as door handles, desks, counter's and eftpos machines etc. 2. We have removed toys from our waiting room and lower shelves to help prevent the spread within our communities. 3: Additional hand washing and sanitizing before and between seeing families 4: Asking team members not to enter the clinic if they have any flu symptoms, had exposure to COVID-19 or have recently travelled overseas in line with the VIC health recommendations. We know how committed our families are to reach their goals. We ask you all to help us and each other out by: 1: Cleaning your hands and your children's hands upon entering the clinic in the bathroom or using the sanitisers currently provided. 2: If you are unsure about attending therapy, please call us so we can help you to understand what is best for your family and discuss online therapy services that we can conduct over the internet while keeping you safe at home. 3: If you have been overseas recently please contact the clinic as we can still help by providing secure online services over the internet. Continuity of your therapy sessions is really important for your child. If for whatever reason you can't attend the clinics, we can provide online therapy sessions. Online therapy sessions look similar to face to face sessions, and the research supports gains that are similiar to face to face. Call us if you feel this might be a better option for you at this time. We here at MSP are working together to help each other and most of all our families to get their care and the support they need. We look forward to seeing you all in the clinic (or online) as usual! See more

06.01.2022 Malvern Speech Pathology and Suncoast Speech and Movement are offering face to face and Telehealth Speech Pathology sessions. 03.01.2022 Proof that therapy for narrative and literacy skills can be fun!!! Just ask Grumpy Poo Poo Pants. FYI I did not write this story- one of my witty and delightful students did- He dictated and I wrote...
