23.01.2022 The Clan Douglas of Australia has been given the opportunity to take a small part in history by participating in the fundraising efforts for a new stained glass window to be commissioned to commemorate the life of Robert Douglas of Kangaroo Point who worshipped at St Mary’s, Brisbane. St Mary’s has been used by the Douglas family for generations since as the family church. There are several spare window embrasures and the aim is to have a new Douglas window dedicated in 201...6, to commemorate his 200th date of birth. 'St Mary's on the Cliffs' is one of the most beautiful and historic Churches in Australia at Kangaroo Point in Brisbane. It was built in 1873, and has distinctive Richard Suter lines, organic 'tuff' stonework, and has a number of beautiful stained glass windows. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 1992. We encourage everyone to take part in the creation of the Douglas stained glass window which we can then leave as a family legacy. For more information, please contact CDAA via Private Message. http://www.saintmarys.org.au/

18.01.2022 Putting out a good word for the work of Care Outreach who have been helping people in need. http://careoutreach.com.au/ A Douglas family member recently received some welcome help after a devastating house fire. They were extremely grateful because the fire came after a difficult period which included drought, flood, and health issues. ... "The origins of Care Outreach date back to the early 1990’s when founders Bill and Melissa Close were in itinerant ministry to churches and communities throughout Australia. With a break in their schedule, they travelled to a region that was suffering from drought to offer practical assistance and ministry. It was during this trip that they were struck by the disadvantages faced by Bush people and the number of suicides among farm families From then on, the focus of their ministry shifted to caring for the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of people in Rural and Remote Australia By 1996 the organisation had grown to include many volunteers with a heart for Rural and Remote Australians, and so Care Outreach has expanded to the extent that today there are numerous volunteer teams undertaking year round visits, giving hands-on assistance and facilitating Community Events."
