21.01.2022 A PRESENTATION EVENT for the Club’s 2019-20 awards was held at the Howrah Community Centre on 29 July 2020 titled Looking Forward Looking Back. Our Immediate Past President Peter Gold-Stone James used the opportunity to Look Back and reflect on our achievements over the past year. Up until the impact of COVID-19 in March 2020, the Club had many achievements resulting in the Club donating $24,500 into the community. While there are too many achievements to individually l...ist two key highlights were cooking hamburgers and sausages for 700 hungry cubs and carers at The Lea and at the Clarence Carols in the Park where we were so popular that we sold out! Our current President Stephen Smith used the opportunity to Look Forward to share his view of what may lie ahead for 2020-21. One of Stephen’s messages was that due to Covid-19 we need to plan for the best and expect the worst which will require the Club to modify how we do things. In addition to the presentation of awards, the evening provided an opportunity for fellowship. The 2019-2020 awards were presented by the Immediate Past President Peter Goldstone-James and the recipients were: Lion of the Year (President’s Appreciation Award) Christine Miley John Hingston Award (Outstanding New Members) Maria Skillern Tasmanian Lions Foundation Fellowship Leon Spencer, Christine Tilyard and Cheryl Brown. 15.01.2022 Clarence Lions FABULOUS Christmas Raffle According to Diabetes Tasmania, Tasmanian early childhood centers, primary and secondary schools currently have approximately 370 children living with type 1 diabetes enrolled. Students with type 1 diabetes have management tasks including injecting insulin, checking blood glucose and counting carbohydrates.... This year the Club chose Diabetes Tasmania Family Camp project as the recipient of our end of year fund raiser and elected to do something different and have a cubby house as the raffle prize. It is a perfect opportunity for parents and kids to have some time to catch up with old friends and meet new ones whilst their kids are playing and having fun. Info on the Cubby:.
