18.01.2022 Reverse osmosis waste water restrictors. To stop wasting too much water and balance your reverse osmosis water filter system. You need to match the waste flow restrictor to the membrane size to balance the system.... Open the membrane filter housing and on the side of the membrane filter element you will find a part number, the last numbers tell you what rating the membrane is eg - 24 or 36 or 50 etc.. this the gallons per day rating. Some systems use an external inline waste water flow restrictor and the rating will be on the side in Mpm. If you can not see an external restrictor then you might have a tube insert flow restrictor. To check remove the waste tube from the end of the membrane housing and see if there is a coloured flow restrictor inside the tube. The colour will represent the Mpm flow rate of the restrictor.

15.01.2022 Testing for Sediment or Tannins coloured water Test to see if your water has sediment or tannins. Simply fill a clear glass with water and let it stand for 24hrs. If the water is clear and you have sediment at the bottom then this can be filtered out. If the water is still coloured than you have tannins. Tannins is caused by leaves or clay etc. which will stain the water. Tannins will make the water have a slight yellowish or white colour even after it has been filtered. The 2.5 filters are available in a range of lengths from 5, 9 with the most common standard size being 10, also available are 20, 30 and 40 sediment filters. Larger Jumbo big blue sediment filters are called 4.5 diameter filters and measure around 112mm in diameter. The lower the micron rating the finer the filtration will be. At 20 microns most suspended sediment is removed.
