15.01.2022 We might be in lockdown for 6 weeks but you can still play tennis to exercise - up to 4 family members, or 2 friends, on a court at any one time. Don't forget you must go to our website - clarindatennis.com.au - and book a court. Competition tennis which was to start this Saturday is now cancelled again. Stay safe & make sure you do the right thing on the court so we can stay open.

12.01.2022 Hilda McLean 1927-2020 Hilda & Don joined Clarinda Tennis Club in 1954 both were Life Members of the Club. However, I am here today to talk about Hilda who sadly passed away on Xmas Day just short of 94 years of age. Hilda leaves behind, 3 sons, Ian, David & Bruce (and their partners), 8 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren.... Just a few of my memories of Hilda - she was quietly spoken, a really lovely lady, a tennis club mother figure - she would sit at the bar listening to all the rubbish being discussed, and only comment when she felt it was necessary. She would have a glass of wine and sip away at it during the night however, when it was time to go home, the glass would still be full funny that !! Hilda played Saturday afternoon competition, she played midweek ladies competition into her 80’s, Easter Tournaments, Australia Day tournaments and attended every social function we ever had. I had the pleasure of playing with her in the Veterans Ladies Doubles at a few country tournaments and we were lucky enough, or should I say skilled enough, to win a couple of them. She was only a small lady but she wasn’t afraid to stand up at the net and her trademark inside-out backhand volley was one for the record books. It is really sad that we won’t see her at the club anymore she was one of a kind - always in our memories and in our hearts. Condolences to all the family. RIP Hilda PS - the first photo is from our "P" Night social function - you can guest what Hilda came as. Written by Gayle Hall

11.01.2022 Ovals, greens and sports grounds across Kingston will light up thanks to a partnership between the City of Kingston and the Victorian Government. Council has be...en awarded $2.5 million through the Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program to help fund 10 sports lighting projects over two years across the city. The funding contribution will mean Council can move ahead with these 10 important sports infrastructure projects for the community, a total investment of around $4.7 million. The projects cover a range of sports and recreation activities, including AFL, football (soccer), tennis, lawn bowls, hockey, dog obedience and baseball. Council is committed to improving our sporting grounds and community recreational facilities and these lighting projects will hopefully encourage better participation in sport and recreational activities in Kingston. The funding will contribute to the following local projects: - Clarinda Tennis Club, Clayton South - Keeley Park Reserve Oval, Clayton South - Kingston Heath Hockey Pitch, Cheltenham - Heatherton Reserve Oval Council is looking forward to working with the community and sporting clubs to implement these important sports lighting projects.
