18.01.2022 Is your mechanic cleaning your airflow sensor? If you are coming to us they are! A dirty airflow sensor can cause lack of power, increased fuel consumption and even an engine light. This is just one of the extra things we do in our services to give you the best out of your car

18.01.2022 So, what does a pollen filter, or cabin filter actually do? It stops this from happening! This is an air conditioning evaporator, it is like a mini radiator in your dash which has air con gas running though it. The air for your cabin is then cooled by passing through the cooled evaporator. If your pollen filter is missing, dirty, damaged, or you have a vehicle that does not have one, then dust can enter the aircon system and get caught on the condensation on the evaporator, which then causes rust and an eventual leak - as seen here! The green is the dye we use to identify air conditioning system leaks. It is a big job to replace the evaporator - but, we are not scared of a bit of hard work , and of course if your car has a pollen filter you know we are checking it each and every service!

16.01.2022 But I don’t do the Km’s and 12 months is too often We hear this everyday!!! Getting the oil changed regularly is the most crucial thing you can do for your vehicle. Unfortunately I have little sympathy when an engine sludges as it is completely unnecessary and easily avoidable. CHANGE OIL REGULARLY OR DESTROY YOUR ENGINE. It’s your call

13.01.2022 Here is a good comparison to yesterday’s post on poor service history.. this vehicle has far more mileage on the engine at just under 200,000km yet the internals are looking perfect. No signs of carbon and sludge. #OILISCHEAP change it often!

13.01.2022 Cabin filters are definitely a great item that vehicle manufacturers have adopted. Unfortunately early vehicles dont have them and this is the result. Lucky for this customer we were able to clean this up like new back to great flow of air through the vents and chilly Brock

01.01.2022 Hello everyone, WE ARE STILL OPEN! In the interests of making sure everyone stays safe we have changed the office around a little and are trying to limit the number of people in the office at one time, in addition to constant wiping/cleaning of all surfaces and hands. ... Clark Motors was established in 1950 by Brocks grandfather Sparrow, and we have no intention of letting this close our doors - we appreciate your support and look forward to keeping the doors open to serve you! CODIV-19 is a polarizing issue, and while you might believe Mackay is safe - and we hope you are right! - if Brock and Adele get sick the business will need to shut down or individuals risk being fined. We want the world to go back to normal as fast as everyone else does, so lets follow the advice, and lets get this beat!

01.01.2022 Timing belts are a very crucial part in an engine. Not all engines have timings belts, a lot use chains. Belts can have various schedules for when they need to be replaced. Its arguably the most important part to have changed on time - apart from oil changes that is. In a lot of cases if the timing belt lets go it can damage a lot of internal components which will run up into the thousands! Having the timing belts replaced can be expensive depending on make model etc, but to... put it simply the cost of not changing is far greater by a long way. This brings me to another point. When we are asked for a quote on replacing a timing belt we will always quote on a timing kit. A kit contains not only the belt, but will have all idler bearings, seals and tensioner. All these components should be replaced to keep your vehicle running well and reliable. If you think about a typical timing belt that only is replaced every 150,000km. If you were to replace just that belt you are asking the idler bearings and tensioner to last 300,000km without giving any trouble.... I would say apart from neglect and timing belts stripping the teeth off the belt, most failures I see are from bearings or tensioner failure not the belt itself. I guess I thought putting this post up might help owners understand a couple of things when getting ready to have a timing belt replaced. When asking for a quote find out what is being quoted? Is it just a belt or are you getting all the important components replaced? A couple extra dollars doing a kit will save thousands in a engine rebuild. Picture of bearing below has done 150,000km and you can see the face of it starting to deteriorate. I know I wouldnt roll the dice for another 150,000km would you?! Brock
