07.01.2022 Cracking Read if you surf Possos! #Repost @watermarks.gallery @download.ins --- Welcome to winter part 6... Point Impossible June 20th 1965 55 years anniversary, John Gudgeon After the Bells morning session, the crew decided to go check Point Impossible. Most of us (Bells surfers) had not been there. We thought it was for small wave surfers but not the Bells crew! Arrogance? Maybe, but there was some logic behind it. The Bells track was a challenge after rain, especially the mud sections. Point Impossible was more difficult, which is the reason it was named ‘impossible to drive to in winter’. A rough track off Blackgate Road ran into a dead-end at Thompsons Creek. That meant unload the boards and paddle down the creek. The other option was a gate that could be opened, to drive around the wetlands. That meant going back towards Torquay until you found dry ground, then with a left-hand turn, head back along the southern side of the wetlands. That was the route we took. I didn’t surf, instead deciding to take some photographs. They turned out to be the first ones of Point Impossible. Image and extract from Barrie Sutherland’s memoirs.
