16.01.2022 Rice-pattern porcelain is one of the most characteristic technique in Jingdezhen. Its history can trace back to the Tang Dynasty, which is almost 1400 years ago.... The technique uses hand carving to decorate, and then fills in clear glaze. #ricepattern #ricepatternporcelain #ceramics #ceramicstudio #ceramicdesign #design #traditionalart #handcarving # #jingdezhen # #

05.01.2022 2-week closure of Newport Travel Please be reassured, we are all currently healthy with no symptoms of Covid-19 virus. However, we have decided to join the vol...untary social distancing movement and have closed the shopfront, planning to reopen on the 1st of April. During this period we will be working by email only on reduced staff with no telephone access. However,we can be contacted at [email protected]. Sadly, Natalie is leaving us and has taken this opportunity to pursue a new career path in the caring professions, working with people with disabilities. We wish her every success and happiness in this new direction. Id like to thank Natalie for her tireless work and support over these past 6 months while Newport Travel has struggled with the consequences of the successive bushfire crises, bankruptcy of numerous worldwide travel wholesalers and operators including airlines, accommodation providers and cruise lines, and now, since the end of December, the Coronavirus. Our sympathy goes out to our loyal and supportive clients who have had, and continue to have on a daily basis, their travel plans for 2020 disrupted or cancelled due to Coronavirus-driven travel bans and operator cancellations, or cancelling and deferring themselves due to personal health concerns or the economic impact of Coronavirus and their own financial situation. I will be handling all the Newport Travel cancellation administrations and deferred rebooking of travel in order of urgency. With airline bookings it can take months to receive the refund as, unlike bookings which are automated, cancellations under the current conditions are on a case by case basis and done manually. This also applies to all the different service providers involved in a complex booking. As you can imagine, all our suppliers, including airlines and cruise lines are absolutely swamped with queues of work at the moment. So, I thank you for your patience and understanding as we work together in the industry to get through these unprecedented circumstances. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. The spread of the Coronavirus has been halted or controlled in countries like China, Japan, Singapore and South Korea. Wendy Wu is planning to restart tours to China in April, as life has returned to normal there .. that is, if the travel ban from Australia has been lifted. Ill leave you with a couple of images from facebook posts the one on the left is toilet paper shelves at Coles, Newport (photo by Natalie last week), and the one on the right is from friends in Jingdezhen, near Wuhan province in China, also taken a week ago, showing a local supermarket scene and advising me that they are now free to move around and life is returning to normal in China Yours in Travel, Chris Riou Travel Manager Newport Travel
