25.01.2022 Clayworks is open for business, but to maintain social distancing we request that you email or phone your orders in and collect them from the car park. We will be closed over the Easter Break, reopening on Tuesday the 14th. Please have a safe Easter break.

25.01.2022 Dear Agents We are putting more comprehensive instructions for inspecting the pedal, on our web site. This should be up by tomorrow. Can you please replace any notices you have up on your own sites, with the following, more comprehensive notice. Apologies, as this may require repeated contact with some customers, alerting them to the amended instructions. Kind Regards... Merrill, Leanne and Geoff RECALL- Direct Drive and No.7 pottery wheels. A fault has been identified in the above wheels, whereby an electric shock can be sustained through the foot pedal. This can occur if the wiring INSIDE the pedal becomes detached from the potentiometer, or corroded as a result of moisture ingress AND then touches on the metal rod at the top of the pedal. The most common cause of disruption to the internal wiring is through damage, usually sustained through pedals being dropped/misused. This can cause detachment of wires, break the plastic casing and seal, allowing moisture ingress and corrosion. Wires can also twist and potentially break if the nut at the back of the pedal becomes loose. We advise a visual inspection of the pedal AFTER turning mains power off, and unplugging machine from wall/power board. WAIT FOR RED STAND BY light to go off. THIS COULD TAKE UP TO 15 SECONDS. 1. Inspect the outer casing, ensuring there are no cracks, and that there are no signs of moisture inside the pedal. 2. Inspect the wires and ensure they are not detached from the potentiometer(small grey or blue plastic device), broken or twisted in any way. 3. Ensure nut at back of pedal is tightly fastened. If satisfied with the above, ongoing use is at the owners, discretion. General care of the equipment is important, and if a commercial operation or educational institution, wheels should be regularly tagged and tested. RCDs also need to be present in all buildings. We are devising a remedy and will notify when it is available Apologies to all our loyal customers

21.01.2022 Updated trading conditions: Its felt like a long 8 weeks but we are hopeful that production will resume on Monday pending the Victorian government roadmap decision. ... Clayworks is the only Australian clay manufacturer located in metropolitan Melbourne, under Victorias stage 4 restrictions we were required to temporarily close down our manufacturing plant. Over the period we have continued to supply orders from our warehouse reserves. We are very excited by the prospect of getting back to producing and supplying clay so that you can get back to turning it into wonderful things. Given we will have been unable to manufacture for 8 weeks our stock of some clays is quite low or temporarily out so we apologise in advance if we dont currently have what you need but we will be working hard to restock in the coming weeks. If you cant find what youre after please call us so we can let you know when it will be available or talk through alternate options. Thank you again to all our wonderful customers for your loyalty and support during this difficult time and we look forward to ramping up and getting back to normal as soon as possible. Stay safe -Max, Fifi, Doug and the whole Clayworks family

21.01.2022 Forms of fire LAURA WINDMILL Ceramics Laura's work is influenced strongly by the colours of nature, in particular the Australian desert, glaciers and volcanoes.... Special firing techniques such as saggar, pit firings and raku allow her to capture some of these colours. The passage of flames and markings left by natural combustible materials, as well as rock salt and copper carbonate, help to achieve these incredible results. Potting since a teenager, Laura still hasn't lost the passion or the excitement of this medium. see full artist profile www.yava.org.au/laurawindmill Yarra Valley Arts YAVA Gallery & Arts Hub #laurawindmill #yvaopenstudios #ceramics #pottery #yarravalleyartist #melbourneartist #australianartist #yarravalley #visityarravalley #openstudios #yavaarts #virtual

03.01.2022 Dear Agents Further to our last email, we are very sorry to have to inform you that we are in the position of having to issue another product recall, this time pertaining to the Direct Drive, and also possibly the No.7 electronic wheel. This is as a result of investigations following an incident that occurred recently which may cause an electric shock where a wire is loose or broken within the foot pedal. Following advice, we would recommend that you instruct all customers in... the manner you best see fit, with the knowledge that we are looking at a time period of 15-20 years. We advise that they do not use the machines until they are inspected. We advise that with power off, the pedal is visually inspected, and check that the nut is tight, all three wires attached to the potentiometer, and wires not twisted. Also, that they inspect the plastic casing and ensure no cracks or breakage, and that the seal in intact with no signs of moisture present inside the pedal. We suggest that you advise all customers that they are responsible for the care of their pedals, and that they are regularly tagged and tested if required for their purpose, and that RCDs are present in all buildings. We are devising a solution quickly but this may take 4-6 weeks. As we are again going through the correct processes we will require documentation of customers to whom a kit will be posted to. In the interim, we have halted sales. Again, we cant apologise more for this terrible situation we all find ourselves in. To those of you who have been so supportive since Dad died, we are doubly sorry. We will be back in touch soon. Sincerely Merrill, Leanne and Geoff.

03.01.2022 So pleased to be a finalist again in the prestigious Clunes Ceramic Award. I have lost track of the number of times I have been selected in this biennial award... but I have records of being represented consecutively in the last 4. This time is even more special as Territory is a collaboration with Tatsuya Tsutsui (Tatuya Tutui), (@tutuitatuya) and has travelled between Australia and Japan in its creation. It was conceived last year as part of the launch of our brand Kayabuki Kobo aka KK and exhibited in my survey show A Lifetimes Journey with Clay at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum 15 December 2018 - 23 February 2019. A big thank you to Art on Cairncross for further facilitating its journey. #clunesceramicaward2019, #southerniceporcelain, #celadon, #collage, #decals, #bespoke, #kayabukikobo, #collaboration, #tatsuyatsutsui, #overglaze, #kasegawa, #tranquility, #asgoodasitgets, #kyushu, #lifetimesjourneywithclay, #wonderfullife, #inspiration, #lifeisgood, #happinessis, #artoncairncross, #maleny, #sunshinecoasthinterland See more
